Electoral College Sabotage?

Are we going to be hit with a political earthquake on Monday, December 19th when the Electoral College electors meet to cast their votes for president in their respective states? A well connected, far left Harvard professor, Larry Lessig, is claiming this morning that 20 Republican electors are seriously considering voting against Trump. If true, that would be nearly half the number the left needs to overturn the election results.

Professor Lessig is not just any Harvard leftist professor. Lessig has been providing free legal help to electors from states Trump won, who are considering casting their vote for someone other than Trump. At the same time as he is providing "counsel," Republican electors are reportedly being harassed 24 hour a day by left wing fanatics. The harassment includes death threats that has left some of them fearful for themselves and their families. Sounds like hate crimes to me. Where is the Justice Department?

The Republican National Committee (RNC) is monitoring the situation and regularly talking to the electors. The RNC says they can only find one renegade, a delegate from Texas. Given the amount of marijuana consumption among the faculty at Harvard I am inclined to dismiss Professor Lessig's claims and believe the RNC's assurances.

But even if Monday's vote is uneventful, the effort to intimidate electors is one more reminder of how brutal the months ahead will be here in Washington. And I hope it is a reminder of how important it is for American Values to be on your radar screen for an end of year gift as we prepare for January 20, 2017! You can go right here to donate. Four Years of D.C. Conflict

The war is just beginning. One of the reasons newly elected liberal presidents seem to get things done is the massive federal bureaucracy enthusiastically cooperates with them. When a conservative president takes office, he has to battle the media, massively funded left wing groups, AND a hostile bureaucracy. This phenomenon will be magnified as Trump and Pence take office. Many left wing elites in this city quite simply hate them.

The skirmishes are already breaking out. Unbelievably the Obama Energy Department has informed the Trump transition team that it will not provide the names of department employees (civil servants) who are currently tasked with working on global warming or on the Iran nuclear deal. According to the political hacks running the department, the request for the names has "unsettled" some DOE workers.

The poor babies. These are individuals who are paid salaries most Americans can only dream of. Those salaries are paid by the struggling American taxpayer. The public just voted for massive change in Washington. The refusal of department bureaucrats to cooperate with the incoming team is further evidence why that change is needed.

All over Washington Obama political operatives have been embedded into the bureaucracies of every government department and agency. They have all the protections civil service laws provide and they will do everything they can to block the Trump/Pence Administration from doing what you want them to do.

Former Texas Governor Rick Perry, was just announced as Trump's choice to be secretary of energy. He will have a Texas size battle cleaning up that department.
