End Of Day - 8-21-25 - Goodbye Jim, Voter Exodus, The Culture War

Goodbye, Jim

Today, I have sad news. My good friend Dr. James Dobson has passed away.

Family, faith, and freedom were the core of James Dobson’s life. His passion for the family drove Dr. Dobson to become one of America’s leading authorities on child psychology. His faith led him to start Focus on the Family and other pro-family ministries.

Jim and Shirley Dobson were deeply involved in the National Day of Prayer. For 25 years, Shirley led the organization that conducted observances for the National Day of Prayer.

While Dr. Dobson is most well-known for Focus on the Family, his leadership in the pro-family movement extended well beyond any one organization.

I got to know Dr. Dobson during my time in Ronald Reagan’s administration. I was regularly battling the Left, as well as the GOP establishment that was constantly trying to water down Reagan’s agenda. Jim frequently gave me exposure by inviting me on his national radio show.

When I left the Reagan White House, I became president of the Family Research Council to fight for Dr. Dobson’s values in Washington, D.C. Jim and I were frequently attacked by leftist politicians and radical activists for defending the sanctity of life, religious freedom, parental rights, and more.

Dr. Dobson and I co-authored a book called Children At Risk. I can’t tell you how many people have told me the book was prophetic. It was all about the battle for the hearts and minds of our children. That battle is still raging. You can’t go a day without seeing some disturbing story about it. (See below.)

Since you are receiving my daily report, you obviously know that I have my own platforms for advancing our values in Washington, D.C.—American Values and Campaign for Working Families. But I always continued to work closely with Jim.

In recent years, due to his health issues, I came along Jim’s side again as Senior Vice President of Public Policy at the James Dobson Family Institute, which I know will carry on his tremendous legacy.

I hope you will prayerfully consider supporting the James Dobson Family Institute. You can do so at drjamesdobson.org

While Dr. Dobson’s voice will be deeply missed, I know he has gone to his heavenly reward and heard the words we all yearn to hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Trump Wins

President Trump won a significant legal victory today. A New York appeals court declared the $500 million fine imposed by New York Attorney General Letitia James’ lawfare against Donald Trump’s businesses to be unconstitutionally excessive.

However, the judges split on the issue of Trump’s liability. If he chooses, Trump can appeal the liability issue to New York’s highest court, the Court of Appeals.

Voter Exodus

The New York Times did a deep dive into voter registration figures over the past several years in 30 states where voters register by party. The Times found that “Democrats lost ground to Republicans in every single one [of the 30 states] between the 2020 and 2024 elections—and often by a lot.”

In those 30 states, Democrats lost 2.1 million registered voters, while Republicans gained 2.4 million. That’s a swing of 4.5 million votes in the GOP’s favor.

This is a hopeful sign for Republicans, but it’s difficult to know exactly how hopeful without more information. We have no idea what is happening in the other 20 states. As much as I enjoy reading stories like this, conservatives should avoid “irrational exuberance” and assume the country is massively swinging in our direction.

Complacency is a killer. Nothing can be taken for granted in next year’s midterm elections.

Then Again. . .

If Democrats and their Marxist comrades keep doing idiotic things, maybe there will be a big swing among voters. There was an incident in Washington, D.C., recently that happens in cities all across America. People see it, and I believe it can change attitudes.

Federal immigration police and National Guardsmen spotted a “homeless man” on the streets. They thought he was acting strangely, but not how a deranged homeless person might act. An unusual number of people were approaching him and walking away after brief conversations. So, the officers approached him.

It turns out that the man wasn’t “homeless.” He was a drug dealer. So, the police arrested him. Immediately, leftists rushed over to defend the “unhoused individual” and accused the police of being “fascists” for rounding up homeless people.

Here’s the icing on the cake.

An independent journalist witnessed the entire event and then spoke to real homeless people nearby. He asked them, “Are National Guard troops harassing you, too?” They said no, adding the Guardsmen were respectful and things were actually better for them because they weren’t being preyed on by criminal thugs.

So, Washington’s non-criminal homeless are thanking law enforcement, while over-educated, obnoxious leftists are calling the police “fascists.”

The Left’s utter disdain for law enforcement proves that the “defund the police” mentality is still very much alive and well. (See below.)

Miller Responds

Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth toured D.C.’s iconic Union Station yesterday and were harassed by unhinged demonstrators. Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller was with them, and he had a few words for the radical left lunatics. He said:

“All of these elderly white hippies—they’re not part of this city and never have been. And by the way, most of the citizens who live in Washington, D.C., are Black. This is not a city that has had any safety for its Black citizens for generations.

“And President Trump is the one who is fixing that—with the support of the Metropolitan Police Department, the support of the National Guard, and our federal law enforcement officers. So, we’re going to ignore these stupid white hippies that all need to go home and take a nap.”

That’s exactly what millions of Americans voted for!

Leftist Threats

Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA) is threatening senior Department of Homeland Security officials and private prison companies running immigration detention facilities.

Speaking on MSNBC, Ossoff claimed to have “more than 500 credible reports of serious human rights abuses in these Homeland Security Facilities.” He warned that those responsible for our immigration policies and the facilities would face a “reckoning.”

What does he mean by “credible reports”? Where is he getting that information? More importantly, what has he been doing about the thousands of criminal illegal aliens in his state?

So, on the one hand, Ossoff claims—without evidence—he has “credible reports” that immigration police and detention facility guards have engaged in violations of the law, thus smearing everybody working to get illegal aliens out of our country. Worse, he suggests that eventually he and his party will put them in jail when they face a “reckoning.”

On the other hand, when law enforcement officers arrest illegal aliens, Ossoff and his party scream, “Where’s your proof? Where’s your warrant? Where’s the due process?”

So, he is demanding all kinds of constitutional rights for people here illegally, while he strips constitutional rights from the American citizens protecting us by enforcing the law.

Sen. Ossoff’s seat is up next year. I hope Georgia voters are paying attention. He is an embarrassment to the state, and he is hurting the United States with his demagoguery.

The Culture War

A Clinton-appointed federal judge just struck down the Texas law placing the Ten Commandments in classrooms. His decision will be appealed to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, which has already struck down another state’s Ten Commandments law. So, it’s headed to the Supreme Court.

The judge used all the typical left-wing arguments about violating the separation of church and state, government establishment of religion, favoring Christianity over other faiths, and forcing an ideology on children. His language was full of bias and mocking—thoroughly inappropriate for a judicial decision.

But these same leftists get furious when parents object to their kids being exposed to transgender ideology, drag queens, and explicit homosexual behavior.

“You shall not murder, steal, or lie” drives these leftists insane. But it’s just fine for them to force their ideology and anything else on our children.
