While We’re Waiting…
As the nation awaits the Supreme Court’s ruling on ObamaCare, our friends at The Weekly Standard have gone back and reviewed the polling data. Here’s what they found:
“…[F]rom March 2010 through a poll released this morning, Rasmussen has conducted 98 polls of likely voters. All 98 times, support for repeal has [been the winner]. Across 98 contests, Obamacare has gone 0 and 98. Here are a few interesting stats from those 98 polls of likely voters:
“Number of times that a plurality has favored repeal: 98.
“Number of times that an outright majority has favored repeal: 96.
“Number of times that repeal has been favored by a double-digit margin: 95. …
“Average margin in favor of repeal: 17 percentage points. …
“In addition to Rasmussen’s polling, Real Clear Politics lists 20 other polls on repeal from across the past 27 months. In 19 of those 20, support for repeal has outpaced opposition to repeal — giving Obamacare an overall record of 1-117.”
Of course, the Supreme Court won’t take public opinion into consideration. The justices struck down three of four provisions in Arizona’s anti-illegal immigration law even though a July 2010 Rasmussen poll found that 61% of likely voters would support a similar law in their own state.
Ultimately, however, the court is not supreme. It is an integral part of our system of checks and balances, but “we the people” can override the court through the ballot box by changing our elected officials and changing the Constitution if necessary.
Update On Hunter Rogers
Here’s a disturbing update on Hunter Rogers — the North Carolina high school student who videotaped his teacher threatening him with jail for allegedly being disrespectful toward the president. The teacher, Tanya Dixon-Neely, was initially suspended with pay. She has since been told that she will be allowed to keep her job. But that’s not the disturbing part.
After Rogers’ video went viral, he became the subject of threats and harassment from students and the school! In an interview with Breitbart News, his sister said that there are students in school who are related to Dixon-Neely and they have physically threatened him.
Worse, school officials have berated him for embarrassing the school and refused the family’s request to allow Rogers to complete his final three weeks of the school year at home for his own safety. According to the report, Rogers was permitted to come to school late, “be secluded from other students during the school day” and leave late so as to avoid being assaulted. In short, the atmosphere is so bad that the only way the school can guarantee his safety is to isolate him.
And to add insult to injury, the school slapped Rogers with a suspension for videotaping in the classroom!
Imagine if this situation were reversed. Suppose a gay teenager had been “bullied” by a conservative teacher. I guarantee you that teacher would have been fired on the spot. Moreover, the school would have bent over backwards to accommodate any request from the family and to quash the “atmosphere of hate” if he felt threatened by other students.
It’s okay to videotape cops roughing up someone without knowing anything else about what happened before that incident. Those folks are hailed as heroes. The Occupy Wall Street movement constantly videotaped the police, hoping to intimidate them. But a kid who videotapes his teacher trying to indoctrinate a class with false information gets punished.
This is how the left wins, my friends. The “tyrants of tolerance” do not hesitate to intimidate and silence their opposition. They are bitter, angry people. We saw it in the violence and vandalism that was so rampant in the Occupy Wall Street movement.
We saw in the hatred that was directed at the Mormon Church and some small businesses after Proposition 8 passed in California. We saw it Friday when news broke about the disgusting and demeaning behavior in the White House toward Ronald Reagan and other conservatives.
The left wants to control you, and it will if we don’t fight back and defend our values!
