America First Leadership
President Trump addressed the United Nations General Assembly this morning.  Rather than kowtow to global elites and institutions, President Trump unapologetically defended America and our sovereignty.  He defended our right to set our own trade and immigration policies.  He defended Israel.  And he attacked socialism.
Below are some excerpts of the president's remarks.  Please take a few moments to read or watch this tremendous speech.
"For decades, the United States opened its economy . . . with few conditions. We allowed foreign goods from all over the world to flow freely across our borders.  Yet, other countries did not grant us fair and reciprocal access to their markets in return. . .
"We will no longer tolerate such abuse. We will not allow our workers to be victimized, our companies to be cheated, and our wealth to be plundered and transferred. America will never apologize for protecting its citizens. . .
"America is governed by Americans. We reject the ideology of globalism, and we embrace the doctrine of patriotism. . . In America, we believe strongly in energy security for ourselves and for our allies. We have become the largest energy producer anywhere on the face of the Earth.  The United States stands ready to export our abundant, affordable supply of oil, clean coal, and natural gas. . .
"Illegal immigration funds criminal networks, ruthless gangs, and the flow of deadly drugs. . . Only by upholding national borders, destroying criminal gangs, can we break this cycle and establish a real foundation for prosperity.
"We recognize the right of every nation in this room to set its own immigration policy in accordance with its national interests. . . That is one reason the United States will not participate in the new Global Compact on Migration. Migration should not be governed by an international body unaccountable to our own citizens. . .
"In America, we believe in the majesty of freedom and the dignity of the individual.  We believe in self-government and the rule of law.  And we prize the culture that sustains our liberty -– a culture built on strong families, deep faith, and fierce independence.  We celebrate our heroes, we treasure our traditions, and above all, we love our country. . .
"To unleash this incredible potential in our people, we must defend the foundations that make it all possible. Sovereign and independent nations are the only vehicle where freedom has ever survived, democracy has ever endured, or peace has ever prospered. And so we must protect our sovereignty and our cherished independence above all."
Kavanaugh Speaks
On Fox News last night, Judge Brett Kavanaugh and his wife, Ashley, publicly addressed the accusations that are threatening his confirmation to the Supreme Court.
It was an extraordinary interview.  At times, Brett and Ashley Kavanaugh were very emotional.  They talked about their faith, and about how tough they knew the process would be.  But they never imagined it would be anything like this.
Mrs. Kavanaugh talked about the very difficult conversations they have had with their daughters in recent days.  Can you imagine having to explain this nonsense to a 10 year-old girl?
There are no witnesses supporting either accuser.  Those we know were there support Brett Kavanaugh.  Yet their father is being publicly smeared by left-wing senators and their so-called "progressive" allies.  How's that for a "civics" lesson?
I only wish Judge Kavanaugh had been more passionate in defending himself.  Yes, I know that's easy for me to say from the comfort of my den.
But I believe Clarence Thomas set the standard in fighting back against these kinds of despicable smears.  I hope Judge Kavanaugh will take a few moments to watch Thomas' reaction
Judge Kavanaugh does not need to attack Dr. Ford.  The statements of various witnesses speak volumes on his behalf.  But Judge Kavanaugh should directly confront the left-wing senators who have smeared him and put his family through this hell.
Will She Testify?
As of now, Dr. Christine Ford is scheduled to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee Thursday morning.  But there are indications she may back out
Ford's legal team is constantly raising objections and demanding special accommodations, no matter what Senate Republicans offer.  The latest objection is that they don't want an experienced female lawyer to question her on behalf of the majority.  In addition, they are demanding to know the name of the lawyer and they want to meet with her today.
Why would it upset Ford's lawyers if a female attorney questions her? They have complained that a bunch of men are sitting in judgment of Dr. Ford.
Well, that's precisely the optics they want.  But a female lawyer methodically picking Dr. Ford's story apart undercuts the political objective of the left's identity politics.
Why do they need the lawyer's name?  So they can subject the attorney and her family to the same harassment that Kavanaugh and Ted Cruz are facing.  (See next item.)
Cruz Chased Out
Senator Ted Cruz and his wife, Heidi, were chased out of a Washington, D.C., restaurant last night by radicals protesting Judge Brett Kavanaugh.  This is just the latest incident of harassment and intimidation, continuing the trend on the left.
In committee hearings, the left smears conservatives.  In restaurants and movie theaters, the left runs conservative leaders out.  On a baseball field in Alexandria, a leftist tried to kill conservatives.
This is the world the left is creating, and it started long before Donald Trump was on the political scene.
Every decent journalist and politician, regardless of party, should start calling out these tactics for what they are.  This is fascism.  This is extremism.  It has no place in American politics.
By the way, I am pleased to report that the Department of Justice has one fewer socialist on staff thanks to Project Veritas.
