Biden's New Low
Whenever progressive politicians takeover a city, they quickly declare it a "sanctuary" for illegal aliens, and prevent local law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration agents. The Biden/Harris Administration is now imposing these "sanctuary" policies shielding criminal illegal aliens on the entire country.
You don't have to take my word for it. Consider this excerpt from the Washington Post:
"The number of deportations carried out by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement last month fell to the lowest monthly level on record, a drop that comes as illegal border crossings remain at a 20-year high."
The Post report goes on to note that there are 1.2 million aliens in the country who have been issued deportation orders by our courts. But the Biden/Harris Administration is "on pace for fewer than 55,000 deportations for the 2021 fiscal year," which would be a record low.
Facebook's Foreign Censors
We warned yesterday that if a president can be censored from platforms like Facebook then all of us can be censored. Well, LifesiteNews.com, a leading pro-life media outlet, has now been banned from Facebook.
The official explanation is that LifesiteNews published "discouraging information" about the COVID vaccines. Well, if that's the standard, then Kamala Harris should have been banned after saying she wouldn't trust a vaccine promoted by Donald Trump.
And every major news outlet should be banned because they also reported on adverse reactions like the blood clotting issue with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine or how the vaccines might be ineffective against some variants.
All these stories, not to mention Joe Biden's mask fearmongering, could discourage people from getting the vaccines.
But I think we all know what's really going on. LifesiteNews was banned because it is resisting the leftist worldview that unborn children have no rights, whereas we believe they should be protected by the words and promises of the American founding.
By the way, here are some facts about Facebook's Oversight Board that you may not know:
· It's based in London, England, not the United States.
· Most of its members are not Americans. In other words, they probably are not approaching the issues they debate with the First Amendment in mind, if at all.
· Several of them are on the record as vicious anti-Trumpers. They should have recused themselves from any decisions involving Donald Trump.
Liberals and free market Republicans have celebrated the fact that the great social media platforms were created in the United States. But they're missing the larger point.
The men and women who run them do not think of themselves as running American companies, but rather international entities.
If the truth be told, some likely think they are more important than governments. To the extent they are interested in America at all, it is to force America to comply with their view of one world and one government.
A final point: Remember AOC's demand for Orwellian "Truth Commissions"? That's exactly what Facebook's international Oversight Board is.
It's Time For A Change
Democrats, their media allies and even some Republicans who should know better are promoting the idea that Rep. Liz Cheney may lose her leadership position because of her impeachment vote against Donald Trump in the aftermath of January 6th. That's absurd.
She was reaffirmed in her leadership role by an overwhelming vote just three weeks after the impeachment vote. If she loses this time, that's clearly not the reason.
However, there is a good chance Cheney will lose because she is out-of-touch with the Republican Party of today. She would have been a good spokesman for the GOP 15 years ago because of her support for endless wars.
Her discomfort in reaching out to working-class Americans is completely counterproductive to growing the Republican Party of today. But it is perfectly reflective of the old GOP, which often went to the mat to protect Wall Street billionaires while thousands of American factories were closed and reopened in places like communist China.
The effort to remove Cheney is not what's responsible for dividing the GOP. The problem is her refusal to admit that the party has changed.
Today's Republican Party still believes in a strong national defense. But it is not committed to fighting endless wars with no viable path to victory. Today's GOP still believes in economic growth. But family budgets are just as important as corporate balance sheets.
Another problem for Cheney is that she eagerly embraced leftist narratives about the Republican Party and Donald Trump. Let me give you one example.
When reports broke that the Russians were paying the Taliban bounties to kill American soldiers, Liz Cheney was one of the first to accept that fake news as true and attack Donald Trump for not standing up to Vladimir Putin.
It would be odd, to say the least, if the GOP went into the 2022 elections with someone in leadership who is being praised by Nancy Pelosi for sharing Pelosi's hatred of Donald Trump. Would Democrats tolerate someone in their leadership team who routinely railed against Joe Biden?
Many members of the House Republican caucus simply feel that if Liz Cheney can't change with the times, then it's time for a change of leadership.
Science & Economics
Well, the CDC has done it again. It's new guidance for summer camps violates everything the science tells us.
The CDC says that kids and vaccinated adults should be masked at all times, even outside in 90-degree heat, and they should be separated by three feet of space at all times, and six feet of space when eating.
This is absurd!
One CDC scientist blasted the regulations as "unfair" and "cruel." The editor of a leading pediatric medical journal ripped the guidance as "unfairly draconian" and "ridiculous."
The time has come to say to the CDC: We demand that YOU follow the science!
Meanwhile, the Biden Administration announced yesterday that it supported plans to waive patent protections for COVID vaccines and therapies. That may sound nice, but it's yet another example of this administration's socialist instincts.
Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla blasted the idea as "politically motivated . . . empty promises." He warned that removing financial incentives for drug companies undermines investment and efficiency. If you think that's just greed talking, look at the vaccine disaster that is unfolding in the European Union right now.
And as the Wall Street Journal put it, "Investors will be less likely to fund new drug research if they think their own government will betray them under political pressure."
First they don't follow the science. Now they're not following the economics.
National Day Of Prayer
Today is the 70th annual National Day of Prayer. First established by Congress in 1952, President Ronald Reagan signed legislation in 1988 designating the first Thursday of May as a day of national prayer.
This year's theme is: "LORD pour out Your LOVE, LIFE, and LIBERTY," based on the verse in 2 Corinthians 3:17 – "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty."
Click here to learn more about the National Day of Prayer, to find events in your area or watch the national broadcast online. In addition, Pray.com is hosting an online event this evening with remarks from President Joe Biden and former Vice President Mike Pence.
As is customary, the president always issues a proclamation recognizing the importance of prayer in America. President Biden followed that tradition, but with one notable exception. While his proclamation refers to climate change and racial justice, it's not entirely clear to whom we should be praying.
