BREAKING NEWS: CHINA DEAL REACHED
There are unconfirmed reports that U.S. and Chinese negotiators have reached a "phase one" deal to deescalate trade tensions. Financial markets surged on the news with the Dow approaching its record high. If the deal holds, it would be more good news for President Trump, in spite of the left's resistance.
Pelosi's Impeachapolooza Continues
The House Judiciary Committee is meeting today to draft articles of impeachment against President Trump. A vote in the full House is expected next week.
The radical left never accepted the results of the last election, and hate-filled progressives have been trying to impeach President Trump since the day he took office.
Earlier this week, Speaker Nancy Pelosi let the proverbial cat out of the bag. When asked why she was rushing the impeachment process, Pelosi answered:
"I think we are not moving with speed. Was it two and a half years ago they initiated the Mueller investigation? It's not about speed. It's about urgency."
In other words, Pelosi believes the impeachment effort began -- not in September with the whistleblower complaint about the Ukraine call -- but in May of 2017, when Robert Mueller, James Comey's mentor, was appointed special counsel in a desperate attempt to resuscitate the debunked Russia collusion hoax. (More on that below.)
And what exactly is the urgency? It seems liberal politicians don't trust the voters to make the correct choice next November.
Here's Adam Schiff essentially saying we need to nullify the last election by impeaching Trump in order to save the next election.
Last night, Jerry Nadler declared, "We cannot rely on an election to solve our problems." Really? I thought that's how we, as a nation, solved our problems -- at the ballot box.
That's also the "urgency" Nancy Pelosi referred to. She concluded her remarks by saying:
"If we did not [impeach Trump], he would continue to undermine our elections. Nothing less is at stake than the central point of our democracy, of a free and fair election not to be disrupted by foreign powers."
I know most Americans agree on the need for fair elections free of any meddling. I also think most Americans would agree that the government shouldn't be spying on presidential campaigns.
The abuse of our intelligence agencies to spy on political opponents, I believe, is a much greater threat to our constitutional republic and our system of free and fair elections. But for some reason, progressives don't want to talk about that.
Deep State Spying
There was a lot of verbal jousting during yesterday's Senate hearing with Inspector General Michael Horowitz about spying versus surveillance. To most Americans this is a distinction without a difference.
Setting semantics aside, Byron York lays out the clear evidence of the Obama FBI's spying on the Trump campaign. Consider these excerpts of York's latest column:
"In addition to the much-discussed wiretap of Trump campaign foreign policy adviser Carter Page, Horowitz discussed the bureau's use of what is called a CHS (a confidential human source, or, in more common terms, an informant) and a UCE (an undercover employee, or a secret agent) to gather information from at least three targets in the Trump campaign. . .
"Horowitz described 'multiple CHS operations undertaken by the Crossfire Hurricane team.' There were 'numerous CHS interactions with Page and Papadopoulos.' There was the CHS contact with the high-level campaign official. And then there were 'additional CHSs' who attempted to contact Papadopoulos but did not succeed.
"All the meetings and conversations were secretly recorded by the FBI. Some were also monitored live, as they happened, by agents and supervisors. The Horowitz report quoted liberally from transcripts of the recordings."
We've been told for years now that the president couldn't be trusted because his campaign was infested with Russian spies. But Obama's FBI couldn't find any Russians in the Trump campaign and neither did Robert Mueller -- because there never were any!
The only spies who infiltrated the Trump campaign were biased, pro-Clinton employees of the federal intelligence agencies!
Even after they found information that cleared the campaign, they didn't stop the spying. They kept on pursuing Page and other members of Trump's inner circle.
But wait. . . There's more!
If the FBI were really concerned about Russian interference in the Trump campaign, it would have given candidate Trump a "defensive briefing," which is normally standard procedure, so he could take steps to stop the meddling.
Eventually, Trump did get a briefing, but the inspector general found that the FBI used it as just another opportunity to spy on Trump.
This is a huge scandal. It's Watergate on steroids! As Lindsey Graham said, it reeks of political bias. Every American, regardless of party, should be outraged.
Instead, progressives are blaming the victim by attempting to impeach Donald Trump.
Progressive Insanity
We told you yesterday about the horrible anti-Semitic attack on a kosher market in Jersey City. Unfortunately, some progressives are jumping to wild conclusions. For example, Joy Behar suggested that white nationalists were responsible for the attack.
She wasn't the only one. Rep. Rashida Tlaib tweeted, "This is heartbreaking. White supremacy kills."
The atrocity was certainly heartbreaking and evil. But it had nothing to do with white supremacy.
Both shooters were black radicals. Their killing spree started when they gunned down a white police officer, who left behind a wife and five children. Then they passed numerous other potential targets to specifically attack a kosher market in order to kill Jews.
Whenever an Islamist goes on a rampage, the left immediately warns America, "Don't jump to any conclusions. Wait for all the facts."
What a gift it would be if Behar and Tlaib could shut up for a while and stop lecturing the rest of us just long enough to get their facts straight!
