A Bold Move

President Donald Trump is playing to his strengths, and that’s causing great wailing and gnashing of teeth among the left -- again. Donald Trump knows real estate. He knows how to repurpose property.

So, he announced that the military base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, will be “repurposed” to hold as many as 30,000 illegal aliens.

Listening to all the wailing, you’d think Trump was doing something outrageous and unheard of. We’ve actually been doing it for decades.

Democrats and media pundits are claiming that Trump’s move is “performative,” just an act to intimidate people from coming to America. Well, that’s the point! Why wouldn’t Democrats want to intimidate people from entering our country illegally?

If you’re in South America and want to come to the United States to take advantage of various taxpayer-funded welfare programs and you know nothing will happen to you because “progressive” politicians will protect you, of course, you will come in illegally.

But if, all of a sudden, you’re reading that Donald Trump is sending apprehended migrants to Gitmo in Cuba, you might think to yourself, “Do I really want to play volleyball with Khalid Sheikh Mohammad? Maybe I’ll just stay home.”

In fact, it seems many illegal aliens have already been intimidated by Donald Trump. Illegal border crossings have plummeted since Trump took office. That’s a good thing!

Putting Children First

President Trump held an educational roundtable at the White House today to promote the initiatives and policies in his executive order on school choice.

As the Under Secretary of Education in the Reagan Administration, empowering parents to make the best educational choices for their children is a big priority for me and American Values. School choice legislation advanced this week in Tennessee and Texas, so the issue has momentum, and it couldn’t come at a better time.

A new report this week found that our children continue to wallow in educational failure. Too many children are familiar with all the latest LGBTQ books, know all the signs that they are trapped in the wrong body, and they may “know” our Founding Fathers were evil slavers.

But they can’t add. They can’t read. And they don’t know American history. Yet, we’re spending more money than ever.

Our children are still suffering from terrible learning loss caused by Anthony Fauci, Joe Biden, and the radical teachers’ unions who shut our schools down. Our kids lost two years of education, and they haven’t recovered.

In my view, what Fauci allowed to happen and encouraged is criminal, which is probably why Biden pardoned him for any past crimes.

On a related note, President Trump took action this week to combat antisemitism. He signed an executive order laying the groundwork to begin deporting “alien students and [university] staff” who engage in antisemitic acts and/or promote terrorist organizations like Hamas.

Portraits & Statues

When reports broke that General Mark Milley’s official portrait at the Pentagon had been removed, establishment hacks were offended by what they considered to be an attack on one of their heroes. These are the same people who cheered on the leftist mobs that attacked the statues of real American heroes.

If you want to vandalize the Lincoln Memorial, spray paint Thomas Jefferson, decapitate Christopher Columbus, or tear down George Washington, that’s free speech.

When Trump tried in 2020 to strengthen penalties for attacking statues of American heroes, the entire left-wing establishment came down on him like a ton of bricks. They said he was the one who is “un-American,” not the anti-American rioters who hate our country.

By the way, when the left was taking down Confederate monuments and renaming schools and highways named after “Robert E. Lee” or “Stonewall Jackson,” Donald Trump was the lone voice warning that the real target was not the South, it was America. He warned that Washington and Jefferson would be next. He was right.

Of course, the vandalism of statues representing America’s heroes was just a symptom of the real problem.

Why weren’t there mobs of young Americans attacking those monuments 30 years ago? Because students then weren’t indoctrinated by left-wing teachers spewing anti-American history and claiming that all those “white bigots were evil.”

Many Republicans in state legislatures didn’t take it on. They were either too scared of the teachers’ unions or they didn’t care what was happening right under their noses in their state’s classrooms.

Thank God there are signs of a rebirth of freedom and patriotism. Young people are also gravitating toward Donald Trump. There are rebellions of students tired of the indoctrination and leftist insanity walking out of schools. May their numbers multiply.

Kudos To Hegseth

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth was asked this week how DEI was doing at the Defense Department. Hegseth replied:

“Well, DEI is not going well at the Defense Department because it’s dead. . . we want everyone treated equally, with high standards, and held accountable with war fighting, lethality, and readiness, front and center. We don’t have time for emphasizing differences.

“One of the dumbest phrases in military history is, ‘our diversity is our strength.’ Our diversity is not our strength. Our unity and our shared purpose is our strength, and the Pentagon is excited to get back to that core mission.”

Well said, Mr. Secretary!

Crash Update

We’re learning more about the deadly crash of a domestic airliner and an Army helicopter over the Potomac River. It is clear that bureaucratic negligence is at least partly to blame.

The airspace around Reagan National Airport has been problematic for many years, because the volume of air traffic has outgrown the airport.

A similar crash was narrowly averted the day before Wednesday’s terrible incident. The air traffic control tower at Reagan National was informed about the near collision when the pilot explained why the aircraft “took a sharp turn to the west” and wasn’t landing. The same thing also happened the week before.

But did anyone report the incident to supervisors, warning that there was almost a total disaster? It might have made a huge difference.

We know that the air traffic controller handling helicopter flights Wednesday night was also handling planes. Experts say this usually is or should be two separate individuals.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump is under attack because he suggested that the FAA has a DEI problem. House Democrat Leader Hakeem Jeffries declared, “While people are suffering, extreme MAGA Republicans are peddling lies and attacking people of color and women without any basis whatsoever.”

The fact is the FAA has a big DEI problem. It’s facing a major class action lawsuit alleging it dismissed nearly 1,000 applicants for air traffic controller positions because they were “too white.”
