The Vapors

Members of the media are having what used to be called “the vapors.” That’s when a woman in the 1900s would faint because she was so overwhelmed by everything going on around her. Today, they’re “fainting” left and right, men and women. Why?

Well, unlike the mentally challenged puppet who has led us for the last four years, Donald Trump talks like an American! But we’ve been “programmed” to think, “You can’t say that. You can’t do that.”

Every other world leader gets up in the morning thinking, “What’s the best thing I can do today for Nigeria?” Or, “What’s the best thing I can do for China?” or whatever country the leader is in charge of.

But we dare not have leadership in America that says, “What can I do today that makes America stronger, better, and more secure? Because that’s what I’m going to do!”

Thinking like that drives the left crazy. “That’s outrageous! What’s wrong with you? Didn’t you get the surrender memo?”

We want America to be a shining city on a hill again. The neo-Marxist left wants America to be a Third World hellhole.

Putting America First

President-elect Donald Trump held a press conference yesterday at Mar-a-Lago. He spoke for over an hour and took questions on a wide range of issues from the press corps. It was a stark contrast to Joe Biden’s last press conference in early October, which lasted less than 15 minutes.

Trump repeated his warning that “all hell will break out” if Hamas does not release its hostages by inauguration day. Most of Hamas’s hostages are Israelis, but the radical Islamists are still holding several Americans.

Trump announced that he is sending his special envoy for the Middle East to deliver his message directly to Hamas. We’ll see what happens.

There was nothing crazy or extreme about his remarks. That’s the way an American president should act and speak when American citizens are threatened and taken hostage. Just ask Ronald Reagan.

Trump also repeated his concerns about the Panama Canal and Greenland. These are not stupid things or minor issues.

Panama is likely in violation of the treaty it made with us when we handed over control of the canal. The treaty mandates that nothing be done at the canal that threatens America’s security. But Panama has allowed communist China to gain footholds on both ends of the canal.

Trump’s strong language is what a president should say, which is why Joe Biden hasn’t said it.

As for Trump’s interest in Greenland, this is not a bizarre or totally wild idea. Like the Panama Canal, Greenland has tremendous strategic importance for the United States.

We strongly considered buying it in the late 1860s. In 1917, we bought the Virgin Islands from Denmark. Why? Because we wanted a nice place to go on vacation? No. We needed their ports during World War I.

After Nazi Germany occupied Denmark in World War II, the United States made Greenland a U.S. protectorate, and we set up military bases on the island.

There is a delegation in Greenland now led by the president’s son to discuss issues we care about. The island is basically a big chunk of ice. It only has 56,000 people.

But it is loaded with vital natural resources, and it has a strategic and economic importance way beyond what many people think. Whoever controls Greenland will have the inside track on controlling the Arctic.

Donald Trump is putting America first. This is how he negotiates, and we’ll see what happens.

A New Name

Trump’s best idea was to ask why that big body of water surrounded by Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas is called the “Gulf of Mexico.” It makes total sense to call it the “Gulf of America.”

Leftist elites have been feverishly working for decades to make America “smaller” in every possible way they can. Shrinking America is a constant theme of the left. They want to shrink our economy, shrink our opportunities, shrink our confidence, and shrink our patriotism.

“How dare you think that we should secure our borders!”

“Who are we to insist that Europe pay more for its defense?”

“How dare you insist textbooks should say America is an exceptional nation without which the world would be a hellhole. That’s indoctrination. You can’t say that!”

So, they’re all shocked when someone like Donald Trump comes along and says, “Without America, it would be called the Gulf of Germany, or the Gulf of Russia, or whatever foreign power conquered North America.”

It certainly wasn’t Mexico that kept the gulf surrounded by freedom, except for the little communist hellhole Cuba. (I still hope to see a truly free Cuba.)

Besides, liberals are running around renaming everything in ways that promote their agenda, like Mount McKinley, Columbus Day, and schools named after George Washington.

So, why can’t we rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America?

Left-wing Lunacy

Yesterday, the House of Representatives passed the Laken Riley Act for the second time. The bill is named after Laken Riley, a Georgia nursing student who was brutally murdered by an illegal alien Joe Biden allowed into the country.

The legislation requires the Department of Homeland Security to take custody of illegal aliens who are arrested for criminal offenses so they can be deported.

Now, that should be the easiest, most basic “immigration reform” that everyone could agree on. No one could possibly be in favor of keeping criminal illegal aliens in the country. Right? Well, apparently that’s what some Democrats want.

The vast majority of House Democrats – 159 of them or 74% of their caucus – voted against the Laken Riley Act.

Once again, the left has made it clear that they are not interested in compromise or common ground.

The legislation now heads to the Senate. Chuck Schumer refused to consider the bill last year, but it will get a vote in the new GOP Senate. I wouldn’t be surprised if enough Democrats support the bill so President Trump can sign the Laken Riley Act into law.

Elections have consequences!

Prayers For California

Our prayers go out to those in southern California who are impacted by the terrible wildfires. We have many good friends and supporters there. Carol and I are praying for everyone’s safety, especially the brave firefighters who are putting their lives on the line.
