The totalitarian impulse has now saturated the entire Democrat Party. Supposed “moderate” Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) was speculating recently about what Democrats will do if they take control of Congress. Of course, investigating and impeaching President Trump are at the top of her wish list. But her real priority should strike fear into anyone who loves America.
During an appearance on a left-wing podcast, Slotkin said:
“I want to . . . not just focus on the president, but on the people who enabled him. I want young people coming out of school to say, ‘Should I go work for the Trump administration?’ . . . I want them to be like, ‘That might be buying myself a ton of problems that I don’t want, and so let me avoid participating in that.’ I want that deterrence message sent.”
Normally, politicians try to encourage young Americans to be active in politics and public service. Not Elissa Slotkin. If any conservative students are contemplating a future in government under a conservative president, she wants to terrify them with threats of prosecution and political persecution.
This is the Marxists’ “handbook.” Toe the party line or else! Persecute and spread fear!
We must wake up to the danger facing our country. I know some people still think we can go back to “normal election cycles,” where if you lose this time, there’s always a next time. That is not the age we’re living in—not when socialist Democrats are making it clear they will stop at nothing to crush their opposition.
This obsession with utterly destroying your political opponents, especially those who say “Make America Great Again” or “Our liberty comes from God,” will destroy our country. And it’s not just the Left’s obsession with Donald Trump. They’re demonizing JD Vance, Marco Rubio and anyone who wants to work for them!
I must say it again, my friends: Christians ought to be crawling over each other to get to the polls to vote. I know affordability is a big issue. But $4.00-a-gallon gasoline is not the biggest issue facing America.
Pastors Must Speak Up
President Trump’s commitment to religious liberty is unparalleled. He demonstrated that last year when he removed the IRS’s political gag on pastors and allowed them to speak freely about elections. Trump did his part, but too many pastors continue to avoid the battle.
A recent survey found that 93% of Protestant pastors will not endorse political candidates from the pulpit during this critical midterm election. Presumably, some pastors just don’t want to offend voters in their congregations. Others argue that their only mission is bringing people to Christ and politics just gets in the way of that mission.
If pastors are uncomfortable making endorsements from the pulpit, I pray they will at least offer their congregations some direction on how to be good stewards of their vote. For example:
