Stevens Shocks The Michigan Senate Race

Stevens Shocks The Michigan Senate Race

Congresswoman Haley Stevens lost the Michigan Democrat Senate primary to Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed 47.5% to 48.5%. Since then, she has campaigned for every Democrat in the state and repeatedly expressed her support for El-Sayed over Republican Mike Rogers. In fact, Stevens was scheduled to appear at a Democrat unity rally yesterday with El-Sayed and senior Democrat leader Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC).

However, tensions between their camps exploded last week when antisemite El-Sayed failed to unequivocally condemn a hate-filled ad blaming Israel for high food prices. El-Sayed attempted to ban Stevens from Sunday’s unity event, forcing staffers for Rep. Clyburn to declare, “This is not Abdul’s event. [Stevens’] invitation still stands.”

But instead of appearing at yesterday’s Democrat unity event, Rep. Stevens and her fiancé, Josh Turkish, sat next to former Congressman Mike Rogers at the Perfecting Church in Detroit. Stevens announced she was endorsing Rogers, saying, “We can’t stand with hate. We can’t stand with Hasan Piker.”

A Profile In Courage

Before he was elected president, John F. Kennedy wrote a book called Profiles in Courage, highlighting various moments in history when American politicians bucked their party when party loyalty had too high of a price. That is what Rep. Stevens has done.

Who knows whether it will make any difference or not. El-Sayed had his biggest fundraising day yesterday—the day Stevens announced her endorsement of Mike Rogers.

I hope Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) and former Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) have called Stevens. I guarantee that nothing prepared her for the poisonous hate that she is being inundated with today.

Stevens has campaigned for every other Democrat candidate in the state. Nonetheless, she was kicked out of the Democrat Party before the sun went down yesterday. The always eloquent James Carville said Stevens would be treated “like a used condom.”

Chuck Schumer, the highest ranking elected Jew in America, blasted Stevens’ endorsement of Mike Rogers as a “despicable betrayal.” Schumer stands with the Islamist El-Sayed.

Haley Stevens disagrees with Republicans on virtually every issue. But the way Democrats are treating Haley Stevens today could drive her into the arms of the GOP.

Schumer and Carville ought to hope that El-Sayed loses. If he wins and dozens of other radical Marxist and Islamist candidates like him also win running as Democrats, it won’t be just a single Michigan Democrat who will have to decide if she can stay in the Democrat Party. There will be thousands of Democrats questioning their loyalty to an increasingly antisemitic socialist party that tolerates no dissent.

Some leftist politicians in Europe are already coming to regret their “deals with the devil.”

El-Sayed Hates Israel

Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed sat down for an interview with Ross Douthat of “60 Minutes” and was asked about his views on Israel. When Douthat asked El-Sayed if he believed Israel had a right to exist, El-Sayed whined, “I don’t ever get the question of, ‘Does Palestine have the right to exist?’”

So, Douthat asked him, “Does Palestine have the right to exist?” El-Sayed answered immediately and unequivocally, “Yes.”

But when Douthat returned to Israel’s right to exist, El-Sayed wasn’t so quick with his answer, and he had plenty of equivocations. “So, yes, if there is a shared understanding,” El-Sayed said. He continued:

“This is the problem with this debate. We start from where we sit rather than start from principles. I believe in equal rights to peace, dignity, and self-determination for Palestinians and Jewish Israelis alike.

“If the Palestinian people decide and the Israeli people decide that they want two states for two people, and they decide that on equal terms, I’m for it. If they decide that they want one state shared in a different way, I’m for that.”

On October 7, 2023, Hamas made it clear that it has no intention of living side-by-side with Israel. They vowed to repeat October 7th-style massacres over and over until the entire nation of Israel is destroyed. Then, they will have the “one state” that El-Sayed says he is all for.

Blinded By Hate

Elon Musk’s Neuralink company has already accomplished some truly incredible things that enable people suffering from debilitating diseases to live better lives. Musk just announced that Neuralink has created a product called “Blindsight.” As the name implies, it can cure blindness.

If only something could cure the blindness of the progressive Left. Sadly, that may be incurable.

But reading about Musk’s latest breakthrough, I couldn’t help but think that this is the man the Left wants to put in jail for the rest of his life and confiscate his companies.

They want an America with a lot more people like Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed and Ilhan Omar and a lot fewer people like Elon Musk and Donald Trump. That America will never be great. In fact, I doubt we can survive.

Losing Our Republic

I have often argued that elections have consequences. Losing our republic could well be a consequence of losing the elections tomorrow.

I keep hearing glib pronouncements from some conservatives about how crazy the Left is and why a loss tomorrow might not be so bad. I agree with the first part of that formulation—the Left is completely unhinged. But the idea that we will inevitably “bounce back” ignores some very significant threats.

One of them is the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. The point of this interstate compact is to bypass the Electoral College so that a future president is elected based solely on the national popular vote.

The reason we have the Electoral College is because we are not a democracy. Our Founding Fathers gave us a constitutional republic with all kinds of safeguards and checks and balances built in so that a few geographic areas do not dominate the whole nation.

But that’s exactly what Democrats want, and they are much closer to accomplishing this goal than many people realize.

Eighteen states and the District of Columbia have already passed legislation requiring their Electoral College votes to be cast based on the winner of the national popular vote instead of how their state actually votes.

Those 18 states plus D.C. account for 222 of the 270 Electoral College votes needed to elect a president. They are just 48 Electoral College votes short of circumventing the Constitution. If they win “trifectas” or total control of the state government in five more states (the governorship and both chambers of the state legislature), they could make the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact a reality.

In the last five presidential elections, Republicans have only won the national popular vote once, and that was Donald Trump just two years ago. George W. Bush and Donald Trump both won the presidency in their first terms while losing the popular vote. Without the Electoral College, Al Gore and Hillary Clinton would have been president in 2000 and 2016.

Losing The Supreme Court

Losing the Supreme Court could be another tragic consequence of losing tomorrow’s elections. If we lose the U.S. Senate tomorrow night and don’t get it back in 2028, that means Justices Clarance Thomas and Samuel Alito have to hang on for at least six more years.

If either of them has a significant health event or just decides that he wants more time with his family, no Trump nominee will be confirmed in the next two years. If we’re lucky enough to win the presidency in 2028 but fail to take back the Senate, there is no way “President Vance” will get a Supreme Court nominee confirmed for two years.

If Thomas or Alito leaves the court, that means there are 8 justices and just one solid conservative. There would be either Thomas or Alito, plus Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, Barrett and Roberts. There would be many 4-to-4 decisions, which means left-wing courts will get away with murder because Supreme Court decisions die on tie votes.

And given how weak Roberts is and how unpredictable some of the others are, many 5-to-3 decisions would likely go against us.

VOTE!

If you haven’t already done so, please make sure you vote tomorrow! Don’t let anything prevent you from voting. This election is not over, and the only poll that matters is the one that takes place tomorrow!

There will be plenty of opportunities to vote—on your way to work in the morning, during your lunch break or on your way home from work. But you must vote!

And please make sure all your like-minded friends and family members vote! Send them a message tonight reminding them to vote. And send them another message tomorrow encouraging them to make their voice heard by voting!
