Electoral Disaster
Yesterday was a massacre at the ballot box for Republicans. It was also a tremendous defeat for anyone who believes in faith, family, and freedom. The Left swept virtually everything. Across the country, it wasn’t just Democrats who won, but far-left socialists who won.
- Democrats swept every statewide office in Virginia and won a supermajority in the state House of Delegates.
- In what was supposedly a toss-up race, the Democrat candidate for governor of New Jersey won in a landslide.
- In a 3-way race for mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani won a majority of the vote.
- All three left-wing Pennsylvania Supreme Court justices retained their seats by huge margins.
- Gavin Newsom’s redistricting plan to make elected Republicans an endangered species passed overwhelmingly.
Don’t Underestimate Mamdani And AOC.
Avowed socialists Zohran Mamdani and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) are now powerful forces in American politics and the future of the Democrat Party.
They believe they have the formula to win swing states that we must win. They won’t sell socialism in Tennessee, but it could sell in swing states like Arizona, Michigan, and Wisconsin, and in urban areas like Atlanta and Philadelphia that can potentially swing the entire state. The typical Republican economic message will not beat them.
Many of our political allies believe that Mamdani will be the “kiss of death” for the Democrats. That’s wishful thinking. It would be true if it were 1980, 1984, or 1988. It was less true in the 90s, and it’s not true today when 66% of Democrats have a positive view of socialism.
Both AOC and Mamdani are left-wing, populist demagogues. They know how to rally the average person to their banner. The affordability issue is H-U-G-E, and a significant part of the GOP establishment doesn’t get it.
It Doesn’t Work
I already know what many of you are thinking: “But, Gary, socialism doesn’t work!” I know it doesn’t, but it does work when it comes to mobilizing low-information voters.
Let’s assume Mamdani can’t get his neo-Marxist program passed. Let’s assume Gov. Hochul and Democrats in the state legislature find some courage and push back.
Mamdani will use them and the New York business community as punching bags to say, “They’re all in bed with Donald Trump, and they’re the ones stopping me. We need to elect more socialist candidates and a left-wing president.” Socialism always has a scapegoat.
There is a reason why a young socialist hero or heroine periodically emerges on the political scene. They don’t have to run on their socialist record because they have never governed. They just make a lot of promises that sound great. Sadly, many people fall for it.
Look at California now. The state that gave us Ronald Reagan is firmly in the Left’s grip. Look at Virginia. I have lived here when it had Republican senators and regularly voted for Republican presidential candidates. I doubt the state can be won again.
The Problem
The election in New York City was between a liberal with socialist tendencies (Cuomo) and a socialist with Marxist tendencies (Mamdani). Zohran Mamdani ran on the idea that New York City is a mess, and he’s right.
But the only viable alternative was Andrew Cuomo—a career politician widely disliked for killing elderly people in nursing homes during COVID and lying about it. Then he was forced to resign in disgrace over sexual harassment scandals.
Cuomo’s narcissism elected Mamdani. He thought he could pull off a political comeback because he’s a Cuomo, after all. When Cuomo jumped into the race, he scared off other credible candidates.
Here’s another problem.
Don’t forget that the city is dominated by Democrats. Over the past 79 years, New York City has only elected two Republican mayors. (And, no, I’m not counting Michael Bloomberg.) Of the 51 members of New York City Council, just six are Republicans. That’s 12% of the council.
So, there’s nothing bad going on in New York City that is the fault of Republicans because there are virtually no Republicans in New York City!
Mamdani’s Declaration Of War
Barely ten seconds into his victory speech last night, Mamdani quoted Eugene Debs—founder of the American Socialist Party. That set the tone. He danced on Andrew Cuomo’s political grave, saying he would never utter his name again.
He told his supporters that they helped him stop Donald Trump and stop the next Donald Trump, referring to the populist conservative Republicans nominate in 2028.
He also addressed President Trump directly, saying, “Donald Trump, since I know you’re watching, I have four words for you: Turn the volume up.” Then he launched into a rant that was basically a declaration of political war.
Zohran Mamdani is a dangerous man. Something bad for New York City can’t be good for America.
Demography Is Destiny
The borough of Queens, New York, has just under 2.5 million residents. Nearly half of them (48%) are foreign-born. Many came here legally. So, they’re now voters, and 80% of these non-American-born voters backed Mamdani.
City-wide, 85% of voters who have lived in New York City less than five years voted for Mamdani, while 49% of native-born New York City residents voted for Cuomo and 11% of native-born New York City residents voted for Republican Curtis Sliwa. Just 38% of native-born New York City residents backed Mamdani.
Cuomo and Sliwa had 60% of the native-born vote. But Mamdani overwhelmingly won the votes of the people not born in America.
Replacing Voters
Since the last time Andrew Cuomo ran for office, more than 500,000 people have left New York City. Among them were Jews, retirees, and entrepreneurs. The New York Times reports that at least 230,000 migrants moved to New York City during that same time period.
This is how the globalist “replacement theory” works. This view has been relegated to the fringes by the media because it’s the truth. Elites in America and Europe have intentionally set out to replace their native-born populations with immigrants from the Third World, and in many cases, from Muslim countries.
And this is how you end up with a radical Muslim being elected mayor of New York City just 24 years after 9/11. It may very well be too late for much of Europe, and we are on the same path.
Assimilation Matters
In the early 20th century, America experienced waves of immigration from Europe. Poles, Italians, Germans, and Irish came to America in great numbers. They weren’t always greeted with open arms, but they were hard-working and some of the most patriotic Americans you could ever meet.
They loved America. Their children and grandchildren volunteered for the military. They were so desirous of wanting America to embrace them that they held huge pro-American rallies where tens of thousands of immigrants sang patriotic songs and celebrated the United States. They wanted the rest of the country to see their patriotism.
That is not happening today. Young immigrants to America and are “educated” in our left-wing schools learning anti-American history. The result is people like Ilhan Omar, who was rescued by America from a refugee camp in Kenya. She was educated here, and now she never misses an opportunity to bash America.
Zohran Mamdani’s mother bragged that Zohran does not see himself as an American. “He is not an American at all,” she said. “He thinks of himself as a Ugandan and as an Indian.”
So many people only think about our early history of immigration of hard-working people who wanted to be Americans. Cubans escaping Castro’s communism made Florida an economic powerhouse and a solidly Republican state. They are overwhelmingly patriotic.
That’s not what happened decades later in Minneapolis, which became America’s leading recruitment center for international jihad.
That’s not what happened in New York City, which just elected a Castro wannabe, driven by the votes of people who replaced native-born Americans. This is the “fundamental transformation of America” taking place right before our eyes.
I know some people don’t want to hear it, but immigrants from countries that are part of Western Civilization, or at least immigrants with a Judeo-Christian tradition, are much more likely to assimilate and love America.
This has nothing to do with race. A million Nigerian Christians would assimilate much more easily than a million Muslim Yemenis, who hate Jews and Christians.
In far too many cases, people coming from Third World countries, where Islam is often the dominant faith, are bringing with them attitudes about religious liberty, women, and America that endanger our future.
What’s The Future Without Trump
Last night’s results were another reminder that Republicans don’t win when Donald Trump is not on the ballot. So, what is the plan to do something about that? Donald Trump won’t be on the ballot next year or in 2028.
But The Polls. . .
Many conservatives are scratching their heads today trying to square last night’s results with all the recent polling that shows the Democrat Party’s popularity is at rock bottom. The problem is that far too many people are misreading those polls.
Many of the people unhappy with the Democrat Party are people like Mamdani. They’re to the left of the Democrat Party, and they want an even more left-wing Democrat Party. They want a party led by AOC, not Chuck Schumer.
Do not fall into the trap of thinking that just because the Democrat Party is unpopular there is suddenly a huge majority of conservatives in the country now.
Here’s a disturbing fact from Reuters:
“In 42 state legislative and U.S. congressional races across 18 states in 2025, Democrats have improved their margins by an average of more than 15% over the gap between Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris in the same districts last year. . . The Democratic nominee has outdistanced Harris in all but six of those (42) contests.”
Last night’s results are the product of two things: a fired-up and angry left-wing base and a complacent, sleepy conservative base.
The Good News
The only “good news” is that these electoral disasters happened in states that Donald Trump did not win last year and that no Republican is likely to win in the foreseeable future—California, New Jersey, New York, and Virginia.
It’s also more evidence of the growing chasm in America.
Why Does The Left Hate Babies?
Last night, Virginians elected an attorney general who wants a conservative woman to hold her dying babies in her arms. It wasn’t a flippant statement. He said, “Only when people feel pain do they move on policy.” So, he wanted her to hold her dying children in order to teach her a lesson.
The new mayor of New York City refused to say that Hamas must give up their weapons. Hamas decapitated babies on October 7, 2023. I guess Mamdani didn’t want any Jewish babies to get away.
Some might say, “Well, those are just two examples.” Don’t forget the entire Democrat Party is built on a mountain of dead aborted babies.
