The Elusive Democrat “Moderate”

Zohran Mamdani’s campaign for New York City was the subject of numerous controversies and scandals. When convicted cop-killer Assata Shakur died in Cuba in late September, the Democrat Socialists of America (DSA) publicly praised Shakur. Mamdani refused to condemn them for their embrace of the murderer. Mamdani won the election anyway.

Zakiyah Shaakir-Ansari, director of the Alliance for Quality Education in New York City, is a big admirer of Shakur. When asked what woman, past or present, she would want to spend time with, Shaakir-Ansari said, “Assata Shakur—I believe she has so much to offer.”

Mamdani just made Shaakir-Ansari an adviser on education issues and the public schools. Just think of what her appointment means for public school curriculum in New York City. This is what the socialist wing of the Democrat Party does—it empowers the far-left fringe.

Now, let’s look at Virginia, where a “mainstream” Democrat was just elected governor.

Abigail Spanberger once worked at the CIA. Some say the battle for the future of the Democrat Party is between Mamdani and people like Spanberger.

This “moderate” would not condemn the Democrat candidate for attorney general who fantasized about the speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates and his children being murdered.

One of the worst scandals of the Biden administration was the “Richmond FBI memo.” It warned that conservative Catholics had ties to white supremacy and domestic extremism and suggested that “traditionalist” churches should be investigated.

Then-FBI Director Christopher “Clueless” Wray said the memo was just an isolated incident by an overzealous agent and limited to one FBI field office. That was misinformation or a lie.

The memo was distributed to FBI agents all across the country. Stanley Meador, the agent in the Richmond FBI office who approved the outrageous memo, was suspended. He should have been fired.

Well, the “moderate” Spanberger just named Meador as Virginia’s new secretary of public safety and homeland security.

Just imagine if a Republican mayor of a major city and a Republican governor of a toss-up state proceeded to appoint right-wing equivalents of Shaakir-Ansari and Meador. There would be a massive meltdown in the media about America being taken over by “vicious MAGA extremists out to take away the rights of every American.”

Every Democrat in Congress would rush to the nearest microphone to point out the pattern here, condemn it, and demand that the Republican president denounce it. But in the lame-stream media there is virtual silence today.

The Compassion Canard

We just suffered through another week of demonstrations and rhetoric from left-wing activists, including progressive religious groups, claiming that the Trump administration’s immigration policy lacks “compassion.” It is a totally false narrative, but it is being repeated endlessly.

Here’s a reminder of what was happening under Joe Biden and what is happening now under Donald Trump.

During the Biden years, 500,000 unaccompanied children walked across the border with no adult parent or guardian. Often the child had pinned on them the name of someone in America and a phone number. Under Biden, the phone number would be called, and the child would be given to that individual.

There was no more vetting of those individuals than there was vetting of Afghan migrants. In short order, the Biden admin lost track of 300,000 of those children.

When the media was finally forced to report on this scandal, the Biden administration set up a special 800 number for anyone to call who had information about one of these lost children. This was hailed by the Biden administration and the media with great fanfare.

But when the Trump administration took over, they discovered that the number was automated and no one actually ever followed up on the “tips.” So, they not only lost 300,000 children, they also worked really hard to make America think they were trying to find them when they weren’t.

I don’t recall one woke religious group condemning the Biden administration for losing these children. All of these children were separated from their parents—a “crime against humanity,” according to Democrats, even though Barack Obama did it.

Since taking office, the Trump administration has recovered 62,000 of those children. Many were saved from forced labor, sexual abuse, and sex trafficking. That’s what the “compassionate” immigration policy under Joe Biden allowed and what Donald Trump is correcting.

Biden’s Affordability Crisis

President Trump is traveling to Pennsylvania tomorrow, where he is expected to deliver a speech addressing the economy and what many are calling the “affordability crisis.”

Whenever you hear media talking heads prattling on about the “affordability crisis,” it’s important to understand the context, as many talking heads act like it is something new. It’s not.

The total level of inflation suffered by American people after four years of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris was 20%. During those four years, inflation outpaced wage growth so that real income actually dropped.

Donald Trump has been in office roughly 10 months. So far during his term, wages are up nearly 4%, outpacing the inflation rate by 1.2%. That is the only way the affordability gap is going to be closed.

There is no realistic way to reverse the Biden inflation of the previous four years. To do that, prices would have to drop 20%—a scenario unlikely to happen unless we had an economic collapse.

In individual areas, however, Trump has massively decreased prices, most notably the price of gasoline. At its peak, the national average for gas under Biden was $5.03. Today, the national average is $2.90. Many parts of the country are paying even less. That 42% drop in gas prices is because of “Drill, baby, drill.”

Another big issue was the cost of a dozen eggs. Under Biden, a dozen eggs peaked at $4.82. Thanks to the efforts of President Trump and Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, you can get a dozen eggs for less than $2.00 today.

Rent prices have been declining since Trump took office. Fewer illegal aliens, less pressure on rents.

Another factor in affordability is high taxes. Don’t forget that Democrats in the House and Senate desperately wanted to raise your taxes a few months ago. They tried to defeat the renewal of 2017 tax cuts in the One Big Beautiful Bill. That would have resulted in a massive tax increase. They also tried to cancel no tax on tips and tax relief for Social Security recipients.

Thankfully, they failed because all of the provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill will be a huge relief on affordability.

Big Government Corruption

Big government socialism is only interested in handing out money to justify higher taxes and bigger budgets. There is little to no interest in making sure the money actually gets to people in need.

We know about the growing Somali corruption scandal in Minnesota, which is breathtaking in its scale. Even though they were warned, all Tim Walz, Ilhan Omar, and Minnesota Democrats cared about was getting money out to Minneapolis’s Somali community, a growing voting bloc.

There has been a rapid growth in autism diagnoses in recent years. President Trump and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., want to know why. But one thing we do know is that there are certain incentives in various federal programs for the diagnosis of autism.

Once again, the Minneapolis Somali community is at the center of a massive fraud scheme exploiting taxpayers and their desire to help children with autism. According to one report, “In Minnesota, the number of autism providers soared 700%, and payments to them increased 3,000% between 2018 and 2023.”

It wasn’t because Minnesota experienced an autism pandemic, but a corruption pandemic. It’s disgusting. The same kind of fraud is going on in Obamacare.

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) tested Obamacare’s verification procedures by deliberately sending in fraudulent or faulty applications. It found that 96% of these highly problematic applications were approved.

On further inspection, the GAO found that 68,000 Social Security numbers were “double-dipping,” providing Obamacare subsidies to more than one person. One Social Security number had been used on 125 different applications.

It’s almost as if they’re not even trying to stop fraud. Meanwhile, Democrat states are resisting efforts by the Trump administration to root out fraud.

Obamacare is not solving the problem of high healthcare costs. It is fueling the corruption that occurs under Democrats, and it will destroy our country.

Taking On Big Government

The Supreme Court heard oral arguments today in a case challenging the president’s authority to fire officials at so-called “independent” government agencies. Many of these officials are appointed by the president, but he is supposedly powerless to remove them.

Of course, these bureaucrats are rarely “independent,” and many of them are resisting the president’s agenda. They are part of the “administrative state” that makes policy through regulation, as if it were a fourth branch of government.

President Trump is trying to trim that branch, and it appears that a majority, if not all, of the court’s six conservative justices are siding with the president.

Making The Arts Great Again

When Donald Trump returned to the White House, he took control of the Kennedy Center. He fired the board and put Ric Grenell in charge. It caused a massive controversy. Big stars canceled appearances, and there were boycotts. The Trump administration also canceled many left-wing and LGBTQ events.

President Trump said that the Kennedy Center, an iconic institution in Washington, D.C., had fallen into disrepair and was being badly mismanaged. He was right.

Well, it was announced over the weekend that President Trump has doubled the amount of private contributions to rehabilitate the Kennedy Center. Will the stars run to microphones to thank him? No, of course not.

In this town, if you’re a conservative, no good deed goes unpunished.
