Trump Owned The Leftist Haters
President Trump’s address last night was brilliant! It was the most effectively crafted State of the Union I have heard in all the years I have been in Washington, D.C., fighting for you and for faith, family, and freedom.
If you missed it, I encourage you to watch it here. Seeing the socialists in the Democrat Party squirm is therapeutic.
Many of the president’s guests, including the U.S. Olympic men’s hockey team, stirred our love of country. Incredibly, some Democrats refused to stand and celebrate America’s winning hockey team.
President Trump showed his natural empathy, which most Americans seldom see, in how he honored his guests in the gallery.
President Trump praised two 100-year-old veterans of World War II, the two West Virginia National Guard troops who were shot during their deployment in our nation’s capital (one of whom died), and a Coast Guard officer who rescued 165 people after torrential floods destroyed a girls’ summer camp in Texas.
The Economy
The economy and affordability are the big concerns and themes dominating American politics today, and President Trump addressed them head-on. Noting that Joe Biden and Democrats caused the affordability crisis with their reckless spending and record inflation, Trump reminded Americans that:
- Core inflation is at its lowest level in more than five years.
- Mortgage rates are the lowest in four years.
- The price of eggs is down 60%.
- Gasoline prices are down dramatically.
- American oil production is up by more than 600,000 barrels a day, and American natural gas production is at an all-time high.
- Trump has secured commitments for more than $18 trillion in new investments in the United States.
- Americans are keeping more of their hard-earned money thanks to President Trump’s tax cuts, including no tax on tips, overtime, and Social Security.
Don’t forget that the entire Democrat Party fought tooth and nail to raise everyone’s taxes in 2025. Just imagine how bad the affordability crisis would be if they had succeeded.
President Trump confronted healthcare costs. He pointed out that Obamacare actually made healthcare more unaffordable. Instead of sending billions of dollars to subsidize insurance companies, the president proposed sending that money directly to the American people so they could buy their own health insurance.
He also explained his “America First” prescription drug program. He negotiated with drug companies to ensure we are paying prices as low as other nations for the same drugs.
Faith
Once again, President Trump proudly defended America’s Judeo-Christian heritage. He did it in a way that also highlighted a serious threat to that heritage—the Left’s growing hate and intolerance. President Trump recognized Erika Kirk, who attended the State of the Union at the president’s invitation. Referring to the legacy of her late husband, Charlie, President Trump said:
“I’m very proud to say that during my time in office . . . there has been a tremendous renewal in religion, faith, Christianity, and belief in God. . . This is especially true among young people, and a big part of that had to do with my great friend, Charlie Kirk.
“Last year Charlie was violently murdered by an assassin and martyred—really, martyred—for his beliefs. . . In Charlie’s memory, we must all come together to reaffirm that America is one nation under God, and we must totally reject political violence of any kind.”
The Border
President Trump celebrated his administration’s tremendous success at securing the border—his signature issue. After years of record-breaking illegal immigration, the president declared, “In the past nine months, zero illegal aliens have been admitted to the United States.”
Trump also recognized the tremendous pain and suffering caused by the Left’s open border and sanctuary city policies. He introduced several Angel Families, including Jacqueline Medina, whose 16-year-old daughter was brutally stabbed to death by a foreign national illegally in our country.
Then, President Trump exposed the Democrats’ extremism live on national television. He said:
“One of the great things about the State of the Union is how it gives Americans a chance to see clearly what their representatives really believe.
“So tonight, I’m inviting every legislator to join with my administration and reaffirming a fundamental principle. If you agree with this statement, then stand up and show your support: The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.”
It doesn’t get more basic than that!
Every Republican immediately jumped to their feet. Virtually every Democrat remained stone-faced in their seats. President Trump blasted the Democrats, saying, “Isn’t that a shame? You should be ashamed of yourself, not standing up.” Of course, there is very little that shames the neo-Marxists in the Democrat Party.
One Democrat said she refused to stand because choosing American citizens over illegal aliens was “racist.” American citizens are a racially diverse group. How is making them our top priority “racist”?
Imagine if Joe Biden had said, “Jose Gonzales is here in the gallery tonight. It took him four attempts to get into the United States. Three times he was captured by the vicious Border Patrol and deported. But Jose persevered and can now enjoy all the benefits the American taxpayer has to offer.” Democrats would have stood up and cheered for that.
Well, we really don’t have to imagine it. It turns out that several Democrats, including Sen. Chuck Schumer, did in fact bring illegal foreign nationals as their guests to the State of the Union address. You can’t make it up. (Where is ICE when you need them?)
On a related note, President Trump exposed the Left’s soft-on-crime attitude when he introduced Anya Zarutska. Anya and her daughter, Iryna, escaped the war in Ukraine to live with relatives near Charlotte, North Carolina.
But one night last summer, as she was returning home from work, Iryna was brutally murdered by a criminal thug who had been arrested more than a dozen times and was released on no-cash bail. President Trump said, “Mrs. Zarutska, tonight I promise you we will ensure justice for your magnificent daughter Iryna.”
Again, the Democrats who keep telling us how pro-Ukraine war they are refused to stand for this grieving Ukrainian mother, whose daughter was murdered right here in America.
They’re Crazy
Time and time again, President Trump brought up issues that revealed just how deep the radical roots are of today’s Democrat Party.
Sage Blair was another of the president’s guests at the State of the Union. At 14, school officials “socially transitioned” Sage without her parent’s consent or knowledge. She ran away from home and became a victim of sex trafficking across state lines. But a left-wing judge in another state would not return Sage to her parents unless they agreed to “affirm” her gender delusions.
President Trump said:
“Surely, we can all agree no state can be allowed to rip children from their parents’ arms and transition them to a new gender against the parents’ will. Who would believe that we’re even talking about that? We must ban it, and we must ban it immediately.”
Again, no Democrats stood to applaud the president’s call to protect our children. And Trump noticed, saying, “Look, nobody stands up. These people are crazy, I’m telling you. They’re crazy. . . We’re lucky we have a country with people like this.”
Almost every other day there’s a new report or survey telling Democrats that they have to get men and working-class Americans back. But the Democrat Party has become the party of Harvard and Yale, of Wall Street, Hollywood, and Martha’s Vineyard.
It’s the party that thinks there are 58 genders and there is no God. It’s a party constantly at war with common sense, normalcy, and the Natural Law.
That’s the point every Republican running for office should drive home in their campaigns.
Virtually every moment last night was a new low for the Democrats. They really scraped the bottom of the barrel when President Trump introduced Chief Warrant Officer Eric Slover.
Despite being shot multiple times during the military operation to arrest Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro, Slover continued to successfully fly and land his helicopter so U.S. military personnel could complete the mission.
President Trump awarded Chief Warrant Officer Slover the Congressional Medal of Honor, America’s highest military award. But as Slover struggled to remain standing because of his wounds, some Democrats remained in their seats. Disgusting!
America First vs. The Left
Throughout his address, President Trump highlighted many of his policies that put our country and our citizens first. He said directly, “I put America first. I love America.”
A significant number of Democrats find that statement to be provocative. They don’t love the America our Founders gave us 250 years ago. They want to transform America. We must never forget that.
According to Axios, approximately 130 Democrats boycotted the president’s address. Many went to “counterprotests” that were complete freak shows and poorly attended.
Many people say, “We need to talk to each other more.” But it’s hard to have a conversation when some people won’t even show up.
And then there was the spectacle of Ilhan Omar, who was welcomed into this country as a refugee, trying to shout down the president while sitting behind a dude in a dress. That’s today’s Democrat Party.
Celebrating America
President Trump closed his address last night by celebrating America’s exceptionalism and offering a hopeful vision of our future. Here is an excerpt of his remarks:
“There is no challenge Americans cannot overcome, no frontier too vast for us to conquer, no dream too bold for us to chase, no horizon too distant for us to claim. For our destiny is written by the hand of providence, and these first 250 years were just the beginning. . .
“The revolution that began in 1776 has not ended. It still continues, because the flame of liberty and independence still burns in the heart of every American patriot. And our future will be bigger, better, brighter, bolder, and more glorious than ever before. Thank you, God bless you, and God bless America.”
Flash polls conducted last night and today showed that the viewing audience moved significantly in Trump’s direction.
The Democrat Response
Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger was tasked with the unenviable job of giving the Democrat response to the State of the Union. I doubt many people stayed up to watch it. As expected, Spanberger attempted to portray her party as “moderate” with sensible solutions to the affordability crisis.
Rather than offering a point-by-point rebuttal, just take seriously the words of her former colleagues in the House of Representatives. Spanberger is no “moderate,” and, as I noted above, there is nothing “moderate” about the Democrat Party.
And just look at how Spanberger and Virginia Democrats are addressing “affordability.” How does a new tax on Amazon deliveries make your life more affordable? How about a dog-walking tax? Or a new tax on electric landscaping equipment? Democrats even want a vehicle repair tax, as if car repairs weren’t expensive enough.
