No Kings Nonsense

“No Kings” demonstrations took place all over the country this weekend. Again, if Donald Trump really were a dangerous dictator, these protests would not have been allowed. “King Donald” would have banned them.

The crazies hit the streets abroad, too. An estimated 500,000 leftists and Islamists marched in London, England, in solidarity with the demonstrations here. So, in a country that actually has a king, 500,000 people marched demanding that America not have a king, which we don’t.

Back here at home, violence erupted in Los Angeles and Portland, as Marxist leftists threw concrete blocks at federal officers and attempted to storm an immigration facility. Chants supporting a communist revolution filled the air in New York City, while demonstrators in Washington, D.C., called for “abolishing the police.”

Demonstrators were also seen holding pictures of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and waving Iranian flags. Just another example of the Marxist-Islamist alliance against Western civilization.

Of course, there are normal people all over the country who just don’t like conservative ideas. They may be your neighbors, co-workers, or people at your church. There are also goofball progressives who just believe absolutely crazy things.

And then there are people who want to see America burn and us dead. They are nihilists, anarchists, communists, Marxist revolutionaries, and members of the radical LGBTQ movement.

While there were all kinds of people at the demonstrations, the groups behind the demonstrations driving turnout and setting the agenda are radical. Most of them do not have America’s best interests at heart.

Fox News reports that the No Kings demonstrations are organized by a network of 500 organizations with $3 billion in revenue. People in New York and Nashville were seen marching under banners with the communist hammer and sickle.

Does the hammer and sickle represent everyone in those demonstrations? I hope not. But if people showed up at a conservative demonstration with Nazi flags, we conservatives would kick them out—physically, if necessary.

I saw no indication of that happening to the communists and Marxists this weekend. In fact, the communists and Marxists seemed to be the driving force behind these demonstrations. Now, leaders of the No Kings movement are calling for a national strike on May Day, a traditional communist holiday.

By the way, before the weekend “No Kings” demonstrations, a protest was held last week in which speakers said they would cheer if U.S. soldiers returned home in caskets. That protest didn’t happen in Tehran. It took place in Philadelphia. These idiots should talk to real Iranians.

Day 31

This morning, President Trump provided an update on the negotiations to end the military conflict with Iran. In a Truth Social post, Trump wrote:

“The United States of America is in serious discussions with A NEW, AND MORE REASONABLE, REGIME to end our Military Operations in Iran. Great progress has been made but, if for any reason a deal is not shortly reached, which it probably will be, and if the Hormuz Strait is not immediately “Open for Business,” we will conclude our lovely “stay” in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island. . . This will be in retribution for our many soldiers, and others, that Iran has butchered and killed over the old Regime’s 47-year ‘Reign of Terror.’”

Are the talks going well? Who knows?!

President Trump looks at the situation every day and tries to figure out the best strategy to keep America’s enemies off balance, not knowing what to do next and guessing as to what he might do next.

When Trump sends more troops to the Middle East, Iran has to take that into consideration. It affects where they deploy their troops. It may also strengthen the hand of those in the regime who say, “We need to negotiate and make a deal now!” Trump is sowing confusion and fear in the ranks of the enemy.

It also explains why reporters keep asking, “Mr. President, are you going to deploy ground troops in Iran?” The president shakes his head, laughs, and says, “That’s a really stupid question. Maybe I will. Maybe I won’t. Why would I tell you? Next question!”

Energy Independence

Natural gas is currently trading in the United States at just under $3 per million British thermal units (MMBtu). In Europe and Asia, natural gas is trading at roughly seven times that price. Why? We are self-sufficient in natural gas, blessed with tremendous resources. Europe and Asia are dependent on natural gas imports from other countries.

While the conflict in the Middle East has not moved the price of American natural gas, it has virtually shut down natural gas exports from Qatar, one of the biggest natural gas exporting countries in the world.

Oil is a different story and is largely priced as a global commodity on the world market. Brent crude is the global benchmark or price of oil from around the world. Brent crude is currently trading around $112 a barrel. West Texas crude is oil from the United States. It is trading around $103 a barrel. Experts say that gap is likely to get larger.

One energy analyst explained that the United States is relatively self-sufficient in oil production. But we are not self-sufficient in refining capacity. If we had built more refineries over the past 50 years, U.S. oil prices would look more like natural gas prices.

But thanks to the radical environmental movement and the Democrat Party, we haven’t built new refineries for decades. California is losing one of its last refineries, and gas there is 50% more expensive than the national average, partly because of high state taxes and because it is now importing large amounts of gasoline from the Bahamas!

Analysts on CNBC cite the high price of gas in California all the time to hurt Donald Trump, when they ought to be blaming Gavin Newsom.

Meanwhile, President Trump invoked emergency powers to restart offshore oil production in California after Iran shut the Strait of Hormuz. Gavin Newsom immediately ran to court to block Trump’s orders.

Trump is trying to get more cheap oil to California residents, but the Democrats who run the state are trying to stop him!

A Harmful Homily

Pope Leo XIV, the first American pope, appeared to completely jettison the Just War theory that has undergirded the teachings of the Catholic Church during his Palm Sunday homily. It is dangerous to misconstrue Christianity as a pacifist faith. It is not. Here’s what Pope Leo said:

“[Jesus] did not arm himself, or defend himself, or fight any war. He revealed the gentle face of God, who always rejects violence. . . Brothers and sisters, this is our God: Jesus, King of Peace, who rejects war, whom no one can use to justify war. He does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war but rejects them. . .”

If that’s what Christianity is, then anytime a country became Christian, unchristian nations would destroy it. Criminals would flock to any Christian city to rape, assault, rob and murder at will, knowing that no Christian could fight back to protect themselves or other citizens. This is a deeply disappointing distortion of the faith. It turns Christianity into a suicide pact.

Surely the pope knows that Jesus did not arm Himself or call an army of angels to fight against those who crucified Him because Christ was sent to die on the cross to give us eternal life. Christianity does not call us to let our enemies kill us.

This misguided theology may also explain why this pope appears to be another open-borders pope. Open borders are what happens when Christian nations refuse to defend their own countries and their own citizens.

Speaking Of Open Borders. . .

Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) is one of the leading leftist voices in Congress and well represents for the growing left-wing base of her party. Last week, she called for federal immigration police to be prosecuted for doing their jobs and enforcing our immigration laws.

But she went even further than that. Jayapal declared, “We are going to have to have some form of reparation for the kids and the families that have been traumatized” by President Trump’s immigration enforcement efforts.

She wants reparations for illegal aliens. It’s not clear whether that happens before or after we make them U.S. citizens.

That’s today’s Democrat Party. The only reason Jayapal is considered “radical” is because she does not hesitate to say the quiet part out loud.

Poll Position

Conservative activists gathered in Dallas, Texas, last week for the 2026 Conservative Political Action Conference. A big event at CPAC is the annual presidential straw poll

This year, Vice President J.D. Vance finished first with 53% of the vote. Secretary of State Marco Rubio was second with 35%. (That’s a big change from 2025 when Vance won 61% and Rubio received just 3% of the vote.)

Here is how the rest of the field finished in this year’s CPAC straw poll:

  • Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis 2%
  • Donald Trump Jr. 2%
  • Texas Senator Ted Cruz 1%
  • Texas Gov. Greg Abbott 1%
  • Secretary of War Pete Hegseth 1%
  • Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard 1%

Also finishing at 1% was Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, who seems to believe he has a serious chance at becoming the nominee of the Republican Party.
