America Last

A hearing on Capitol Hill yesterday demonstrated the stark choice confronting the American people this November. It’s a choice between one party that puts America first and the other party that puts America last.

Two Angel parents—Jessica Gorman and Joe Abraham—testified before a House Judiciary subcommittee about the devastating impact of sanctuary city policies. These Democrat policies protected the criminal illegal aliens who murdered their daughters, Sheridan and Katie.

Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY), who represents the Gorman family, called out the Democrats for never mentioning the names of Sheridan Gorman or Katie Abraham or Laken Riley or any other American victim of criminal illegal aliens. The only names Democrats bring up are Renee Good and Alex Pretti—two left-wing radicals who tragically lost their lives because of their own actions.

But before either grieving parent said one word, Democrats were already defending their insane open border policies. Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) literally complained that she had to sit through another hearing on sanctuary cities. “There are many other things that we could be doing other than this,” she whined.

Jayapal made those callous and disgusting remarks while Jessica Gorman, whose daughter was murdered by a criminal alien in the sanctuary city of Chicago, was sitting in front of her, just a few yards away!

Choose Us

When Mrs. Gorman finally had a chance to speak, she did not hold back. She blasted Jayapal and other committee Democrats, saying, “Thanks for telling me without telling me that you don’t want to be here . . . for telling me you don’t care.”

Mrs. Gorman also drew attention to the most important questions at issue in the hearing—questions every voter should ask themselves when they cast their ballots this November. She said:

“The question before this committee is painfully simple. When did protecting our American citizens stop being your first priority? And even more important, why did protecting our American citizens stop being your first priority?

“Explain why people here illegally matter more than your American citizens. Explain why sanctuary policies matter more than my Sheridan’s life. Explain why cooperation with ICE was too much to ask for, but asking our American parents to bury our children is somehow acceptable. . .

“I’m just asking you to choose us. . . Choose us. Why does my child matter less than an illegal immigrant? Why? . . . I don’t understand why it’s only the Republican side that cares about our American children.”

Jessica Gorman’s cry for action should be a campaign ad in this election. The pain and suffering caused by left-wing policies will be put on steroids if the Marxists winning Democrat primaries gain power.

Our national debate is well beyond, “Our policies work better. Free trade is more efficient.” Or, “Tax billionaires to pay for child care. Raise the minimum wage.” No, this is about flesh and blood—flesh of our flesh, blood of our blood.

Whether it’s killing children in the womb, putting them at risk of rape and murder from illegal aliens or choosing drug runners over President Trump’s attempts to stop their poison from getting into America, everything the Left pushes has a price in dead Americans.

Occasionally, a conservative figure will say something a little edgy, and the response by some is, “If we all don’t calm down, this could lead to real violence. People could be killed.” People are already being killed by the Left’s policies.

More Marxist Madness

Marxist Melat Kiros defeated incumbent Democrat Rep. Diana DeGette by ten points in yesterday’s Colorado primary. Kiros took 51% of the vote in a three-way race for the Denver-based First Congressional District.

No one would accuse DeGette of being a “moderate.” She was a member of the House Progressive Caucus. She supported Bernie Sanders’ Medicare For All socialized health care scheme. She called for abolishing ICE. But she lost in a landslide to an anti-American, pro-Hamas communist.

She had the support of the Democrat Party leadership, including House Democrat Leader Hakeem Jeffries. His endorsement apparently means nothing. He’s spitting into a hurricane when he endorses incumbents in these urban districts.

A week ago, many political observers were dismissing the results in the New York primaries as just a New York fluke. Denver proved it’s no fluke. It’s hard to imagine now, but in a few years, we may be looking back at Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and Hakeem Jeffries and saying, “Well, at least they were normal liberals.”

Newt Gingrich, one of the most knowledgeable students of history I personally know, said that what he is seeing today reminds him of the rise of Vladimir Lenin, who never had support from a majority of the Russian people. But he had an army of “true believers,” and that was enough to overwhelm those who opposed him.

Do “sane” Democrats have the strength to stop these Marxists marching through their party primaries? In a few months, we will have the opportunity to stop them, but the early indications are not good.

Here’s one example. Graham Platner, the America-hating, communist-sympathizing Democrat Senate candidate in Maine, is down three points in the latest poll among registered voters.

But among likely voters and those most enthusiastic about voting, Platner is beating Republican Sen. Susan Collins by nine points. And the only poll that matters is the one taken on Election Day by the people who actually vote.

What’s Driving This?

The conventional analysis says that these Marxist candidates are talking a good game on affordability, and that’s why people are voting for them. I haven’t seen one idea they have on affordability other than “free,” and “free” doesn’t work because it isn’t free.

But I think that analysis misses the driving force behind this Marxist insurrection. The real driving force is hatred—hatred of America, hatred of Israel and hatred of Jews. Just listen to what these communist candidates all choose to bring up in their victory speeches—Palestine.

Again, there is no country called Palestine. There has never been a country called Palestine. When the Romans conquered that particular region and named it “Palestine,” it was part of the Roman Empire. The Romans were governing Jews nearly 700 years before Islam was invented.

I’ll address this in more detail later because it really is important. But here’s the “tell”: If a candidate in Denver just defeated the incumbent Democrat, shocking the party establishment, and rants about Palestine in her victory speech, don’t miss what is happening. The ancient evil of antisemitism is rearing its ugly head once again.

A Supreme Disappointment

The Supreme Court’s decision on birthright citizenship was a disappointing defeat. The reaction of two men I admire was very telling.

My good friend Justice Clarence Thomas said the court’s majority took an amendment to the Constitution meant to ensure that Black slaves and their children would be American citizens and “repurposed [it] for political projects” totally alien to the original meaning of the amendment.

Donald Trump showed his disdain in a way only Trump can. He congratulated Communist China’s President Xi Jinping for his great victory at the Supreme Court.

How’s that? Xi is conducting a massive program that brings thousands of Chinese women to give birth in the United States or in U.S. territories in the Pacific. The baby gets American citizenship, but the child is then raised in Communist China. One estimate suggests as many as 1.5 million “American citizen” children are being raised in China today.

Why would Communist China do this? They’re not getting welfare because the children are not here. But American citizens can vote wherever they are living. After years of communist indoctrination, they could return to the United States and join the U.S. military as a Chinese spy. There are many reasons why Beijing might be doing this, and none of them are good.

An American Moment

Working with our friends at the James Dobson Family Institute, I produced a series of short videos celebrating various moments in America’s history, including the Declaration of Independence and Abraham Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address. You can watch the videos here.

Please share them with others as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday.
