The Bully's Pulpit
Virtually every day since he won reelection, President Barack Obama has addressed the nation, made a speech, held a press conference or given an interview in which he has criticized conservatives or the half of the country that didn't vote for him. Obama is behaving as though he won a massive landslide. He did not. The president got 51% of the vote. At the same time, voters returned a Republican majority to the House of Representatives and increased the number of Republican governors to 30. |

Faith Under Fire Last week, Pastor Louie Giglio of Passion City Church in Atlanta, Georgia, had to drop out of participating in President Barack Obama's second inaugural festivities. Pastor Giglio had been asked to deliver the benediction because of his church's incredible work fighting human trafficking. So what was the scandal that led him to withdraw? Embezzlement? Adultery? Not even close. His liberal "sin" was the fact that fifteen years ago he delivered a sermon on why same-sex "marriage" contradicts biblical teaching. |

"Attack On Second Amendment" As expected, yesterday's meeting between Vice President Joe Biden and the National Rifle Association was little more than a photo op. Leaders of the NRA emerged to say it was not a two-way discussion. The Persecuted Church Kudos to Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA). Once again, Rep. Wolf is taking the lead on an issue that gets too little attention -- the persecution of Christians around the world. Many are frustrated by the silence in Washington when it comes to Christian persecution overseas. |

President Obama "Picking Fights" One of the most common themes in the emails I receive every day is the growing belief that Washington is broken, that the "system just doesn't work anymore." It's a widely-held view. A Gallup poll released Monday found that 77% of Americans felt that "the way politics works in Washington these days is causing serious harm to the United States." |

Iran Endorses Hagel Of all the threats to our national security interests, Iran is at the top of the list. With each passing day, the likelihood increases that the U.S. and Israel must either confront Iran's nuclear weapons program or be confronted by a nuclear-armed Iran. |

Obama Nominates Hagel, Brennan President Barack Obama filled out his national security team today with the formal nominations of former Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel to be Secretary of Defense and Counterterrorism Adviser John Brennan to be Director of the CIA. Normally a Cabinet secretary will fight for the best interests of his or her department. But Hagel will give Obama cover to gut the Defense budget. In addition, Hagel has a terrible record when it comes to confronting America's radical Islamic enemies, especially Iran. |

"Shining City" Or National Decline? After the Newtown school shootings, an ABC/Washington Post poll found that 52% of the public felt the shooting reflected "broader problems in American society." The poll didn't ask what kind of problems, but I would submit that the breakdown of the family and reliable standards of right and wrong are at the top of the list. A new USA Today/Gallup poll confirms that Americans are feeling down about the future of our country. |

Congress Approves Fiscal Cliff Deal As you have probably heard by now, the House of Representatives passed a compromise bill last night to avert the worst effects of the fiscal cliff. Suffice it to say that people on the right and the left are unhappy with it. A lot of conservatives are upset because there are tax increases with virtually no spending cuts. Other cuts included in last year's sequester deal were delayed. |
