Obama's Supremely Bad Nominee At the White House this morning, President Obama announced his nominee for the Supreme Court -- Judge Merrick Garland of the Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. The media are dutifully attempting to spin Garland as a "centrist" or a "consensus choice." Consider this headline from the Los Angeles Times: "It's Going To Be Hard For Conservatives To Oppose The Careful, Moderate Merrick Garland." |

Survival Tuesday Voters are going to the polls today in five states: Florida, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina and Ohio. For Democrats, 691 delegates are at stake. For Republicans, 358 delegates are up for grabs. Some pundits have taken to calling today's round of voting "Survival Tuesday" because Republicans are entering the first round of "winner-take-all" contests, and the stakes are so high for Florida Senator Marco Rubio and Ohio Governor John Kasich. |

The Left Attacks Of all the counterproductive things that have happened in the campaign this year, perhaps the most troubling took place Friday night. A left-wing mob organized by MoveOn.org, activists from the Black Lives Matter and Occupy Wall Street movements, and a dozen other radical groups, sent thousands of people into the streets of Chicago and inside an arena where Donald Trump was scheduled to speak. Bill Ayers even showed up, too. |

Debate Recap Last night's Republican debate thankfully had a lot less vitriol and a good discussion of the issues. There were clear policy differences, but the exchanges avoided the schoolyard taunts that have dominated previous debates. Perhaps the best example of the new-found civility came when Donald Trump tried to explain that while he was pro-Israel, he would, nevertheless, maintain a position of neutrality between the Israelis and Palestinians during any peace talks. |

The Results: Democrats Bernie Sanders stunned the pundits and proved the pollsters wrong yesterday. The last poll before the Michigan primary gave Hillary Clinton a whopping 27-point lead. Sanders' voters ignored the polls and gave him a 50% to 48% victory over Hillary. One commentator said the Michigan polling was "among the greatest polling errors in primary history." But Mrs. Clinton had some good news, too. She won the Mississippi primary by a lopsided margin of 83% to 17%. The Results: Republicans |

Four More Today Republican voters in Hawaii, Idaho, Michigan and Mississippi are going to the polls today to cast their ballots in the presidential primaries. Democrats are voting today in Michigan and Mississippi. Michigan is the biggest prize at stake for both parties. Most polls show Donald Trump holding double-digit leads over his nearest competitor, although one poll did find John Kasich narrowly leading. It is worth noting, however, that in recent contests, Trump has underperformed at the ballot box compared to the polls. |

Weekend Results: Democrats Democrats went to the polls over the weekend in Kansas, Louisiana, Maine and Nebraska. Bernie Sanders won three states, while Hillary Clinton won only Louisiana. But Clinton's crushing win in the Bayou State (71% to 23%) offset her losses elsewhere. Clinton and Sanders essentially split the delegates up for grabs -- 64 for Sanders and 62 for Clinton. The Results The Super Tuesday results are in, and it was a good night for the front-runners. Hillary Clinton won seven states last night: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. Senator Sanders carried four states: Colorado, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Vermont. On the GOP side, Donald Trump also carried seven states: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Vermont and Virginia. |
