The Blame Game Begins

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has dutifully tried to protect Obama, claiming he was unaware of Healthcare.gov's problems. But behind the scenes her allies are pointing fingers at the Obama White House.

Obama's "Credibility Death Spiral"

The news about Obamacare seems to be going from bad to worse. The good news is that even Obama's liberal media allies are finding it difficult to ignore. Here's a small sample of stories from the past 24 hours:

Obama Defends Obamacare

Three weeks in and with no end in sight, President Obama was finally forced to address Obamacare's disastrous rollout. Of course, he delivered yet another speech defending his signature initiative. And, as he has routinely done for the past five years, he avoided taking any questions from the press.

Obamacare's $600 Million Disaster

Barack Obama recently compared Obamacare to Apple's iPhone, and suggested the glitches in Obamacare would eventually be worked out. Well, here's something Obama didn't tell you: Apple spent roughly $150 million developing the iPhone. Obamacare's website, produced under a no-bid contract, has cost at least twice as much and maybe four times as much -- $600 million -- of your tax money.

Shutdown Showdown:  Day 15

With just two days left until the October 17th debt limit deadline, a deal acceptable to Senate Democrats, Obama and House Republicans still seems to be out of reach. I am not surprised. In spite of all the talk about the need to compromise, Obama and his allies want bigger government and more spending. House conservatives want smaller government and less spending.

Shutdown Showdown: Day 9

Last week a Park Service ranger dared to expose the administration's government shutdown game plan. The ranger told the Washington Times, "We've been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It's disgusting." Disgusting doesn't begin to describe it.

Shutdown Showdown: Day 8

As the government shutdown enters its second week, both sides are maneuvering for advantage. The polling suggests Obama/Reid/Pelosi have the advantage, but not by much.

Shutdown Showdown: Day 7

Speaker John Boehner appeared on ABC's "This Week" Sunday to defend the GOP position on Obamacare, the debt ceiling and the government shutdown.

He did well, especially when you consider that he was being interviewed by George Stephanopoulos, a former top advisor to President Bill Clinton. The news media's liberal filter could not have been more obvious.

World War II Vets "Storm" Memorial Again

As I reported yesterday, the Obama Administration, citing the government shutdown, has "closed" the World War II Memorial. The Park Police were ordered to shut it down. This was a vicious, mean-spirited act.

The memorial is a circular plaza where visitors simply walk around to read the tributes to the men who defeated Hitler and Hirohito. No federal employees are needed to access the plaza.
