The Bully's Pulpit

Virtually every day since he won reelection, President Barack Obama has addressed the nation, made a speech, held a press conference or given an interview in which he has criticized conservatives or the half of the country that didn't vote for him. Obama is behaving as though he won a massive landslide. He did not. 

The president got 51% of the vote. At the same time, voters returned a Republican majority to the House of Representatives and increased the number of Republican governors to 30. 

"Attack On Second Amendment" 

As expected, yesterday's meeting between Vice President Joe Biden and the National Rifle Association was little more than a photo op. Leaders of the NRA emerged to say it was not a two-way discussion. Following the meeting, the NRA released a blistering statement accusing the White House of planning to "attack" the Second Amendment. Here is an excerpt: 

President Obama "Picking Fights" 

One of the most common themes in the emails I receive every day is the growing belief that Washington is broken, that the "system just doesn't work anymore." It's a widely-held view. A Gallup poll released Monday found that 77% of Americans felt that "the way politics works in Washington these days is causing serious harm to the United States." 

Obama Nominates Hagel, Brennan 

President Barack Obama filled out his national security team today with the formal nominations of former Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel to be Secretary of Defense and Counterterrorism Adviser John Brennan to be Director of the CIA. 

Normally a Cabinet secretary will fight for the best interests of his or her department. But Hagel will give Obama cover to gut the Defense budget. In addition, Hagel has a terrible record when it comes to confronting America's radical Islamic enemies, especially Iran.
