A Happening
Orlando’s Amway Center arena was packed with 20,000+ supporters at President Trump’s reelection announcement last night. Tens of thousands more had requested tickets, but there was no space.
The election is still 500 days away but the energy on display by President Trump, Vice President Pence and the crowd had the feel of an event in the final week before Election Day.
The Trump campaign announced this morning that $24.8 million was raised in the last 24 hours. Remember the excitement in the media when Beto O’Rourke raised $6.1 million on the first day of his campaign and Joe Biden beat him with a total of $6.3?
Speaking of Biden, I wonder if he watched last night. Bernie Sanders did and said he was stunned. I bet he was. President Trump announced that America will “never be socialist!” That was a direct challenge to the socialist left.
As for Joe Biden, he announced his campaign on April 25th. He has done multiple events since then, but I doubt the attendance at all of those events together add up to Trump’s massive crowd at the Orlando event. It is also hard to imagine Biden developing the kind of committed following that Trump now has. Nor can I imagine “Sleepy Joe” finding the energy to duplicate what Trump brings to the table.
You can bring up the speech online if you did not have a chance to watch last night. One profound moment was at the 1:26 minute mark, when the president said that he believes “every life is a sacred gift from God” and contrasted this with the left’s support for “ripping babies straight from the mother’s womb.” The roar from the crowd was one of the most emotional responses of the whole evening.
America’s Concentration Camps
Left-wing darling Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (A.K.A. AOC) shared her peculiar “wisdom” again this week. It wasn’t pretty. She said “This administration has established concentration camps on the southern border of the United States for immigrants, where they are being brutalized with dehumanizing conditions and dying.” She later added, “Never Again” the mantra that specifically refers to never allowing the Holocaust to happen again.
The “concentration camps” she mentioned are in fact shelters where people are detained as we try to sort out criminals, drug smugglers and, human traffickers, from those who may have a legitimate claim to asylum.
No one in these facilities is murdered, starved, or pressed into forced labor, which is what did happen to six million Jews in the Holocaust.
In the shelters at our border, people are provided health care, regular meals, fresh clothes, legal representation and due process to determine their status. The concentration camps of the Holocaust ended in piles of bones, teeth, and bales of human hair.
How dare AOC make such a comparison. She belittles the Holocaust while at the same time smearing her own country. In her fevered head our brave men and women guarding our border are Nazis, the President is Hitler, America is fascist.
When will the party of FDR, Harry Truman, and JFK find their voice and condemn AOC’s demagoguery?
