Immigration Update

 
Last month, Senate Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer shut down the government demanding amnesty for young illegal immigrants.  The shutdown ended after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell agreed to hold a rare open debate on immigration reform legislation.
 
Well, Sen. McConnell kept his promise and he is devoting this entire week to debating DACA (Obama's quasi-amnesty for young illegal immigrants), border security and other immigration reforms.  Senate Republicans have filed more than a dozen amendments they want to vote on. 
 
But Senate Democrats are stalling.  Yesterday, they refused -- TWICE -- to allow the Senate to vote on anything.  Apparently, all Senate liberals want to do is talk about the problem, but they appear unwilling to actually do anything unless it is amnesty only. 
 
Frustrated with the progressives' doubletalk, President Trump this morning tweeted his support for a bill introduced by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley.  The Grassley bill is based on the White House's very generous compromise proposal to protect 1.8 million young illegal immigrants who were brought here through no fault of their own AND secure our borders at the same time.
 
A recent Harvard poll found that the president's proposal/Grassley bill had overwhelming public support -- 65% to 35%.  Yet, Senate liberals refuse to even consider it. 
 
 
 
Liberals Demand Ballot Security
 
Finally!  After years of mocking conservatives and fighting voter ID laws tooth-and-nail, progressives are now demanding strict reforms to improve ballot security.  But you won't believe what they have in mind.
 
The left-wing think tank Center for American Progress (CAP), which has deep ties to Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, released a report this week titled, "Election Security In All 50 States."  Among its recommendations is a ban on overseas electronic ballots.  CAP insists that all ballots "be returned by mail or delivered in person."
 
Guess who provides a big percentage of overseas ballots?  U.S. military personnel.
 
The left is eager to allow convicted felons to vote.  It is constantly fighting to eliminate all kinds of prudent voting requirements.  The left insists that it is too much to ask that someone show an ID to vote, but it is all-in on making it harder for our men and women in uniform to cast their ballots. 
 
If Russian hacking of our elections and possible manipulation of voter databases is such a big concern, in my view that only increases the need for voter ID laws.  I am all for measures to crackdown on voter fraud, but not at the expense of our brave men and women who guarantee our right to vote.
 
If you have a spouse or family member who serves in the military or a friend whose son or daughter serves in the military, please share this report with them.  Make sure they know what the left is trying to do and just how misplaced its priorities really are.
 
 
 
The Wrong View
 
Joy Behar, the loudest left-wing voice on The View, has done it again.  She routinely insults conservatives and regularly demonstrates her intolerance for anyone who doesn't share her views. 
 
Yesterday, Vice President Mike Pence's faith was in The View's sights.  Reacting to comments from fired White House aide Omarosa Manigault, who said that Pence talks to Jesus and "thinks Jesus tells him to say things," panelist Sonny Hostin said:
 
"When you have a Mike Pence who now puts this religious veneer on things and who calls people 'Values Voters,' I think we're in a dangerous situation."
 
Then Joy Behar piled on, saying:
 
"It's one thing to talk to Jesus. It's another thing when Jesus talks to you. . .  That's called mental illness, if I'm not correct.  Hearing voices."
 
Sorry, Joy, but lots of Christians talk to Jesus and, yes, they do believe Jesus speaks to them.  Values Voters are not "dangerous," and faith in Jesus is not a sign of mental illness. 
 
A sign of mental illness would be listening to Joy Behar expecting to hear a voice of wisdom.
 
 
 
About That Meeting. . .
 
Yesterday we told you about the bizarre memo Susan Rice wrote memorializing an Oval Office meeting that took place on January 5, 2017.  The timeline of events just prior to that meeting and immediately afterwards is intriguing.  (H/T Gateway Pundit.)  For example:
 

• On January 3, 2017 -- Attorney General Loretta Lynch signs an order vastly relaxing privacy rules and allowing the NSA to more easily "disseminate 'raw signals intelligence information.'"
• January 5, 2017 -- We now know about that Oval Office meeting with Obama, Biden, Yates, Comey and Rice.  It is reasonable to assume that James Comey likely told Obama that he was intercepting communications from Carter Page and others on the Trump transition team thanks to FISA warrants obtained from the fake Steele/DNC dossier. 
• January 6, 2017 -- The next day, Comey flies to New York and confronts President-elect Trump with the Steele dossier.
• January 10, 2017 -- There is breaking news about the Steele dossier alleging Russian influence over Donald Trump.
• January 12, 2017 -- Michael Flynn's conversations with the Russian ambassador are leaked to the media.
• January 20, 2017 -- Susan Rice, who was up to her eyeballs in the unmasking scandal, writes a memo to herself insisting everything was done "by the book."

 
Remember, Obama assured us that the investigation into Hillary Clinton was completely fair because he didn't talk to James Comey.  Well, that obviously wasn't true. 
 
There is every reason to believe that Obama knew about the fake Steele dossier, that the FBI was spying on Trump and that all this information was being leaked in a coordinated effort to destroy Trump's presidency.
 
Here's something else that wasn't true:  James Comey's testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee last summer. 
 
Comey testified that he spoke to Obama only twice in person (once in 2015 and once in late 2016 "to say goodbye") and never on the phone.  But we know from Strzok/Page text messages that he likely briefed Obama on the Russia investigation sometime in September 2016.  Now we know from the Rice memo that he also met with Obama in the Oval Office in January 2017. 
 
Surely Mr. Comey is aware of the penalties for perjury, which seems to be a persistent problem for the fired FBI director.
