The Supreme Court handed Democrats a significant defeat today in the ongoing redistricting wars. In a 6 to 3 decision, the justices ruled that Louisiana’s court-ordered congressional map, which created a second majority-minority district, was an unconstitutional racial gerrymander not required under Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act.
