Ineffective Bombing In Iraq
Yesterday, Lt. General William Mayville, director of operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, briefed reporters on the status of the bombing campaign against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) or ISIS and concluded:
"U.S. airstrikes in northern Iraq have slowed ISIL's operational tempo and temporarily disrupted their advances toward the province of Erbil. However, these strikes are unlikely to affect ISIL's overall capabilities… I in no way want to suggest that we have effectively contained or that we are somehow breaking the momentum of the threat posed by ISIL. …There are no plans to expand the current air campaign."
Mayville also noted that ISIL was adapting its tactics to avoid our airstrikes, saying, "They are now starting to dissipate and to hide amongst the people."
Sounds like it read the Hamas handbook. No doubt ISIL has seen how the world has berated Israel rather than Hamas for civilian casualties in Gaza.
This enemy is fanatical, barbaric and unconstrained by politically correct rules of war. A dozen or so drone strikes, authorized by Pentagon lawyers, following the ineffective and politically correct rulebook of the left, will not defeat them.
"That's My Boy!"
If you need a reminder of the evil confronting us, look no futher than this shocking picture of a seven year-old boy holding the severed head of a Syrian solider. His father posted the picture online, tweeting, "That's my boy!"
Family members and CNN have rushed to assure us that the father suffers from mental illness. I don't doubt it. It's called Islamofascism and anti-Semitism. But he is far from the only one infected with this "disease."
Outgoing chief of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn disclosed this week that there are now 41 Islamic terrorist groups spread out in 24 countries, a major increase from 2004.
Their ideology is the same one that drove the grand mufti of Jerusalem to embrace Adolf Hitler, that led Arab nations to repeatedly attack Israel, that caused the mass murder of 3,000 Americans on 9/11, that led to the beheading of Daniel Pearl, that causes Hamas to fire rockets at Israeli civilians, that results in young girls being mutilated and sold into sex slavery and that is motivating the genocide of Christians throughout the Middle East today.
If only the political left in America fought the real bigotry of Islamofascism with the same vigor that it fights Judeo-Christian values, we might actually win this long struggle and save Western Civilization.
Now They Tell Us
During the fighting in Gaza over the last several weeks, we repeatedly reported that journalists were being threatened and intimidated to promote the Hamas-approved narrative. Stories out of Gaza never showed Hamas fighters, missile launching sites or Hamas military operatives. Every image was of Gaza civilians suffering from Israeli attacks.
Now, too late, the facts are becoming public. The Foreign Press Association (FPA), representing foreign journalists, has issued a statement which says in part:
"The FPA protests in the strongest terms the blatant, incessant, forceful and unorthodox methods employed by the Hamas authorities and their representatives against visiting international journalists in Gaza over the past month."
Those abuses prevented viewers and readers from getting, as the statement notes, "an objective picture from the ground."
Few of the hundreds of millions of people who absorbed the Hamas propaganda and concluded that Israel was the aggressor will ever read the press organization's statement about propaganda masquerading as news.
Planned Parenthood Busted Again
A Planned Parenthood clinic in Arizona is under investigation for falsifying records related to an abortion performed on a minor. A recently enacted state law requires doctors, other professionals and abortion facilities to report instances of alleged sexual abuse.
According to a complaint filed by our friends at Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a mother brought her teenaged daughter to a Planned Parenthood facility in Tempe, Arizona, around the beginning of the year for an abortion. The mother told the Planned Parenthood counselor that her daughter had been assaulted, but the counselor didn't want to bother with the "hassle" of reporting a rape.
The Daily Caller reports that the alleged rapist in this case "has been charged with 27 felonies for assaulting 11 girls ranging in age from 12 to 17 years old." But had the Planned Parenthood facility followed the law and reported the abuse, several other victims might have been spared.
