Clueless Or Ignorant?
Progressives and socialists constantly come to conclusions about the motives of whole groups of people with virtually no proof to justify their views. For example, when working class Christians did not rally to Obama's banner in 2008, he said it was because they were bitter and clung to their guns and Bibles.
If a professor has a run-in with the police, as happened early on in his administration, without little knowledge of the facts, Obama concluded that the police acted stupidly.
After the tragic confrontations in Baton Rouge and Minneapolis, the facts of which are still largely unknown, leftists everywhere concluded that racism motivated the police officers to shoot Alton Sterling and Philando Castile.
When a large number of minorities are in jail, the left insists that is evidence of racism in the justice system rather than evidence of crime in minority communities.
But when a clearly racist, white-hating African American man with a significant record of expressing support for extremist groups, shoots 12 police officers, kills five of them, and tells police that he hates white people and wanted to shoot more white cops, Barack Obama tells us with a straight face that Micah Johnson's motives were "very hard to untangle."
The left must think we are all idiots.
It's All About Him
President Obama tried to mend fences yesterday with law enforcement. According to the Washington Post, Obama met with the leaders of eight law enforcement organizations at the White House for nearly two hours. According to one law enforcement representative at the meeting, the president told them, "I'm your best hope."
Well, we've heard that before. All the talk about hope and change turned out to be a lot of hype. As we noted yesterday, most Americans feel race relations are worse today than they were eight years ago.
Meanwhile, the murder rate is rising in major cities, while other important indicators are going the wrong way. Home ownership is down, median income is down and minority Americans are hurting most. In fact, Tavis Smiley, a black progressive activist, recently said, "Over the last decade, black folk, in the era of Obama, have lost ground in every major economic category."
The Attacks Continue
As the president is reaching out to law enforcement in his own way, the attacks against the thin blue line are continuing.
In Michigan yesterday, two bailiffs were killed and a deputy was shot Monday by an inmate in the Berrien County courthouse. In Washington, D.C., this morning, five people were arrested after they shot at police officers from their SUV.
Meanwhile, off-duty police officers providing security at a WNBA game walked off the job last night after Minnesota Lynx players appeared wearing t-shirts that linked the shootings in Baton Rouge, Minneapolis and Dallas. The shirts also included the slogan "Black Lives Matter."
Lt. Bob Kroll, president of the Minneapolis Police Federation, commended the officers for walking out, saying that the shirts promoted a "false narrative." Kroll added, "Rushing to judgment before the facts are in is unwarranted and reckless."
Stand With Israel
I know the overwhelming majority of you reading these daily reports care deeply about the security of Israel and the U.S.-Israel alliance. If you would like to receive a short daily report on issues related to Israel, you can sign up here by entering your email address at the top of the page.
In the meantime, I've got some great news to share with you!
Working meticulously and quietly behind the scenes in Cleveland with delegates on the Republican Party's Platform Committee, we have significantly improved the GOP's platform draft language dealing with the U.S.-Israel alliance.
We made it clear that Jerusalem should not be divided as it is the eternal capital of Israel. Jews have been in Jerusalem since King David made the city his capital.
Strong language combatting the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement, which is funded by George Soros to delegitimize Israel, was also included.
References to a two-state solution have been dropped because there is no one who can be trusted to run the yet-to-be created Palestinian state. Everyone with eyes to see and ears to hear knows that a new Palestinian state would be another radical Islamist state that names schools after terrorists because that is exactly what the Palestinian Authority does now!
Just this afternoon, after the full Platform Committee approved the new pro-Israel language, delegates erupted in a standing ovation!
The U.S.-Israel relationship has been deeply damaged during the past eight years. Israel's national security has been significantly jeopardized by the nuclear deal with Iran, a nation that seeks a second Holocaust.
Israel and America are the twin pillars of Judeo-Christian civilization and we must stand together!
