Showdown In The Sunshine State

There was a demonstration in Florida today led by loudmouth Al Sharpton, who never saw a controversy he was unwilling to exploit. Here’s how one national news wire service described the event:

“The Rev. Al Sharpton and other civil-rights leaders will gather in Tallahassee on Wednesday to protest Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ attempts to ban the teaching of some aspects of African American history in Florida public schools.

“Sharpton and a group of students, parents, civil-rights leaders and elected officials will . . . march to the Old Florida State Capitol in protest of recent action by the governor to bar an AP course on Black topics.”

As Paul Harvey used to say, here’s the rest of the story. 

DeSantis did not ban black history. He blocked an advanced placement curriculum that contained neo-Marxist ideology hidden in the curriculum. There were also whole sections dealing with so-called “queer theory.” 

To be clear, African American history was being hijacked by the agenda of the radical LGBTQ movement. And that gets translated into “Governor Ron DeSantis is a white supremacist trying to stop the teaching of black history.” The White House press secretary even repeated this disgusting smear.

Florida law requires the teaching of black history in its public schools. And Florida law also bans critical race theory. DeSantis merely insisted on a curriculum that educates rather than indoctrinates. And actual education is clearly not the left’s main goal. (Here and here.)

So, what Al Sharpton and other leftists are really upset about isn’t the censorship of black history. Censorship is what the left does. 

No, what has them in such a tizzy is that they are losing control over Florida’s public schools, and losing their ability to brainwash our children with neo-Marxist and LGBTQ indoctrination. 

Sadly, the road to Selma and our noble civil rights history is being hijacked by those trying to drag us down the road to Sodom and Gomorrah. 

A Revealing Episode

This flareup in Florida is revealing for several reasons. First, it shows you just how far the left will go to smear any conservative who dares to resist their radical agenda. 

Second, it shows you just how determined the left is to control education in order to manipulate your children, in part by making American history totally unrecognizable. 

Teaching anti-American, neo-Marxist history is central to the left’s efforts to “fundamentally transform America.” Why? Because you don’t “fundamentally transform” something you love. 

You fight to preserve what you love. Patriots fight for God and Country, and the left can’t tolerate patriots resisting their radical neo-Marxist agenda.

So, in order to transform America, you must first teach the next generation of leaders to be anti-patriots by convincing them that the country of their birth is inherently evil and in dire need of “fundamental transformation.” Sadly, it’s working.

Governor Ron DeSantis has risen in stature and popularity precisely because he fights on issues like this. And I am encouraged by his willingness to take bold action. 

That said, I have repeatedly cautioned against the notion that DeSantis is a “more electable” candidate. This current controversy shows how many people are underestimating what the left will do to DeSantis (and any conservative) who happens to get the GOP nomination. 

The left has a multi-billion dollar smear machine. The wire service story I referenced above will appear in hundreds of newspapers all around America today. It will be picked up by CNN, MSNBC and other Big Media networks and reported the same way. 

Before the day is over, there will be people calling DeSantis a “white supremacist.” They already have. (Here, here and here.) 

We’ll see how this all plays out. But no conservative will successfully win back the White House unless they can withstand the “fiery furnace” that the left possesses and wants to throw all of us into.

Poll Position

While we’re on the topic of the GOP presidential primary contest, a new poll out of South Carolina finds Donald Trump leading the pack by a wide margin. Here’s the breakdown:

Trump 35%

Undecided/Other 24%

DeSantis 22%

Haley 16%

No other candidate received double-digit support.

Beijing Biden Knew

Remember when news reports first broke that the U.S. military was tracking an object over Montana? We soon learned that the Biden Administration was aware of the communist Chinese spy balloon long before it breached U.S. airspace above Montana.  We were later told that the military had been tracking it off the coast of Alaska. 

Evidently, that wasn’t the whole truth either.

The Washington Post is now reporting that U.S. intelligence agencies were “watching [the balloon] as it lifted off from its home base on Hainan Island near China’s south coast.”

They tracked it for days as it drifted over the Pacific. That means it wasn’t a total surprise when it showed up off the coast of Alaska. Yet, the Biden Administration did nothing. 

And once it violated the sovereignty of the continental United States, Biden used that fact not as a reason to act, but as an excuse to continue to do nothing! Biden was afraid the debris might hit a school if they shot it down over land.

So, just to be clear, the Biden Administration watched this communist Chinese spy balloon take off, tracked it all the way across the Pacific, over Alaska, into Canada and then allowed it to travel all the way across the country. 

This almost looks like a joint venture between Beijing and Washington. The only thing that could have made it any worse is if Biden had allowed communist Chinese jets to escort the spy balloon!

Not surprisingly, the Biden Administration is downplaying the whole incident. Vice President Kamala Harris told Politico yesterday that this violation of U.S. sovereignty and the threat it posed to our national security won’t change Biden’s approach to communist China.

The COVID Cover-up Continues

The World Health Organization has reportedly canceled the second phase of study into the origins of COVID-19.  Why? We need to know what happened in Wuhan! Well, the Chinese communists are once again refusing to cooperate. Shocker. 

The first phase of the study was totally compromised by communist China and almost didn’t happen at all. Even the New York Times blasted the effort, writing, “The World Health Organization concealed concessions to China and may have sacrificed the best chance to unravel the virus’s origins.”

Beijing knows where the virus originated. It wasn’t someone eating a bat sandwich. It came from a lab run by a “batsh-t crazy” communist regime! 

Religious Persecution Grows

Religious persecution by the neo-Marxist government of Nicaragua is on the rise. Communist authorities there recently arrested several Christians, including four Catholic priests and two seminary students. A Catholic bishop was just sentenced to 26 years in jail.

What jumped out at me were the charges against these Christians – treason, undermining national security and spreading false information. 

Wow!  Did the FBI’s Richmond Field Office write the indictment? 

This is exactly the mantra that authoritarian and totalitarian regimes all over the world use to silence conservatives and put Christians in jail, and the same thing is starting here.
