What A Sight
I’ll get to more profound issues in a moment. But I want to describe what you would have seen this morning if you were standing at the corner of 48th Street and Park Avenue in Manhattan.
Hundreds of construction workers and other New Yorkers had gathered there to see Donald Trump. They were chanting, “USA! USA!” as Trump greeted them, signed autographs, and took pictures.
Scenes like this mini Trump rally in Manhattan must scare the heck out of the left, which is doing everything it can to demonize and destroy Donald Trump. It is also a demonstration of loyalty that the GOP establishment could only dream of and will never understand.
I can think of only one other president in recent memory who generated the same respect among the American people. His name was Ronald Reagan, and he was a populist conservative, too.
Hitler’s Heirs
The anti-Semitic protesters on hundreds of U.S. campuses spring from the same diseased root as the Hitler Youth. Let me explain.
Adolf Hitler organized and radicalized German youth, indoctrinating them in Nazi ideology from elementary school to college. Today, American children at every level are being indoctrinated in the leftist ideologies of critical race theory (CRT), so-called “diversity, equity, and inclusion” (DEI), and gender theory.
Don’t forget what the word Nazi means. It’s an acronym for “National Socialism.” So, German Nazis were socialists, which is also the prevailing philosophy of these anti-Semitic demonstrators and the faculty of virtually every American university.
Hitler’s youth and today’s campus protesters also share an all-consuming hatred of Jews. The belief that Jews were evil was hammered into the mind of every young German.
CRT and DEI are doing the same thing to young Americans today. Both teach that Judeo-Christian Civilization is systemically racist and evil.
They view America and Israel as “imperialist, colonist, oppressive” powers that have occupied stolen land from the native populations and then engaged in genocide of those populations. They see American and Israeli Jews as “white adjacent” Europeans and the Palestinians as “oppressed victims.”
CRT and DEI have a very distinct racialist view, just as Hitler had very distinct views of good and bad races. It is a disgusting philosophy antithetical to Judeo-Christian teaching.
We are not seeing followers of Martin Luther King, Jr., on today’s college campuses. King taught us not to judge people based on skin color but on their character. But today’s so-called “progressive” left looks at everything through a racial lens.
They have decided that Jews are “oppressors,” and so to be a good “prog” (progressive), you must oppose Israel and the Jews. This is why we increasingly see Jewish groups being excluded from left-wing events like the Women’s March and gay pride marches, and it’s why some radical environmentalists refuse to work with Jews.
The Hitler Youth boycotted Jewish businesses. Their campus reincarnations are demanding a boycott of the only Jewish nation in the world, and they are boycotting Jewish businesses here in America.
Of course, many of these university demonstrators are Islamists, but that’s not surprising. Hitler had admirers and allies all over the Islamic Middle East. The Grand Mufti of Arab Jerusalem was a big fan of Hitler and helped recruit Muslim volunteers for the dreaded SS.
I could go on, but here’s the bottom line: An ancient hatred and great evil is rising in America today. The time when Christians can sit comfortably in our churches is over. We must confront this evil. We must stand with Israel.
Netanyahu Responds
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly addressed these anti-Semitic demonstrations. Here are excerpts of his remarks.
“What’s happening in America’s college campuses is horrific. Anti-Semitic mobs have taken over leading universities. They call for the annihilation of Israel. They attack Jewish students. . .
“This is reminiscent of what happened in German universities in the 1930s. It’s unconscionable. . . It has to be condemned and condemned unequivocally. . .
“We have to stop anti-Semitism because anti-Semitism is the canary in the coal mine. It always precedes larger conflagrations that engulf the entire world.
“So, I ask all of you, Jews and non-Jews alike, who are concerned with our common future and our common values, to do one thing: Stand up, speak up, be counted. Stop anti-Semitism now.”
Debating Immunity
No, I’m not talking about vaccines versus natural immunity. I’m referring to this morning’s Supreme Court arguments regarding presidential immunity.
Trump-haters, led by Special Council Jack Smith, are arguing that a president has no immunity at all. Trump’s lawyers are arguing that the president should have total immunity. My guess is that the high court will come down somewhere in between with an opinion issued in late June.
Then, it would likely send the case back to the lower court, instructing it to reconsider the case in view of the nuanced opinion the justices issued, making it even more unlikely that Smith’s case in Washington, D.C., could be settled before the election.
Ironically, the strongest argument being made today on Trump’s behalf is being made right now by Alvin Bragg in New York City and Fani Willis in Atlanta. Their abusive and selective prosecutions are exactly what constitutionalists are warning about.
Lawfare Forever
The left’s raw totalitarianism and weaponization of the law are on full display yet again. An Arizona grand jury just indicted 18 Trump supporters, including former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and John Eastman, a constitutional law professor.
This indictment comes in a state where the latest poll shows Trump leading by seven points. Sounds like election interference to me.
The left’s mantra, which even some at Fox News are repeating, is that we must accept the results of any election. But not being allowed to contest an election is not a trait of democracy. It is a trait of totalitarian societies that hold corrupt elections.
It’s communist China, Cuba, Iran, Russia, and Venezuela where you are not allowed to question election results.
Elections in America have been regularly contested. Radical leftists feverishly tried to get members of the Electoral College to overturn the results of the 2016 election.
In the 1960 election, Richard Nixon won Hawaii by 140 votes on the first count. When it was time for the state’s electors to meet and vote, it was still uncertain who won the state.
So, the electors pledged to Nixon met and cast their votes for Nixon, while the electors pledged to John F. Kennedy met separately and signed separate certificates casting their votes for Kennedy.
Nobody said, “You can’t do that, Kennedy!” Nobody was prosecuted.
Let me remind you that some on the left also planned to contest a loss in 2020. They actually war-gamed various outcomes.
In one scenario, with John Podesta acting as Joe Biden, they refused to accept a narrow loss. Then they persuaded several governors to send alternate slates of electors to the Electoral College, while the Left Coast states vowed to secede.
And, of course, leftists are already plotting to prevent Trump from taking office if he wins in November. In other words, while they work to put Trump in jail for challenging the election results in 2020, they are planning to challenge the results in 2024!
They never worry about inconsistency. They can change their narrative in a second.
For example, when the Supreme Court says, “No prayer in school,” “Abortion on demand,” and “Men can marry men,” the left insists that we follow and respect the court.
But when the court says, “Abortion isn’t in the Constitution” or “Christians can’t be forced to violate their faith,” those same people scream, “The Supreme Court is illegitimate! It should be ignored!”
Nobody cares that they are contradicting themselves, and they do it all the time.
Our future will be decided by who has the will to make America reflect their values. The left wants a “fundamentally transformed America,” and is willing to do virtually anything to achieve it.
We have an image of what America should be, but there is deep division within our ranks on strategy. Some say we must never use the tactics of the left in order to remain “principled conservatives.” In that case, history will write that we are simply “conservative losers” who surrendered “the last best hope of Earth.”
