Real Olympic Gold II
I want to introduce you to another Olympic gold medal winner we can be proud of: track star Sydney McLaughlin. Running came naturally to Sydney. Her mother was a high school runner and her father competed in the 1984 Olympic trials.
Sydney attended the University of Kentucky. In 2018, she broke the NCAA record in the 400 meter hurdles. And this week in Tokyo, Sydney broke the world record in the same race to win her gold medal.
Like Tamyra Mensah-Stock, Sydney McLaughlin loves America and has a burning faith in Jesus Christ. She used her Olympic platform not to diss America or mock our values, but to share the Gospel. After her record-breaking performance, Sydney told reporters that she was "giving the glory to G-d" and was "really grateful" to represent our country.
In a social media post a few months ago, as she was preparing for the Olympics, Sydney was clear about her faith. Here's what she wrote:
"In a world full of inconsistency, it's such a breath of fresh air to find true stability in Jesus. . . The peace of knowing I will always have a friend, always have His support, and always have His LOVE, makes even the loneliest of moments feel full. My soul finds rest in knowing He is not like us . . . and He will never leave me. . . I don't have to face it alone. That. Is. Love."
It is indeed.
With all that's going wrong today, it's reassuring to know our faith still burns in the hearts of millions of young Americans. And like Sydney, we must continue to persevere. We must continue to run the race and fight the good fight.
Biden's Border Scandal
McAllen, Texas, is a moderately-sized town on the Rio Grande River. It's "Ground Zero" in the border crisis caused by the Biden/Harris Administration. As many as two million illegal immigrants are expected to cross the border this year, and the Biden Administration is releasing many of them in McAllen, Texas.
Many of these migrants have COVID, and since February the Biden Administration has released 7,000 COVID-positive migrants in McAllen. It released 1,500 COVID-positive migrants in McAllen just in the past week alone!
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have abandoned the entire town. The lives of local residents have been turned upside down dealing with this pandemic that Joe Biden has unleashed on them.
Of course, these migrants don't stay in McAllen, Texas. The Biden Administration is transporting migrants all over the country, leading some people, including Sen. Rand Paul, to suspect that they are "seeding the country with a new variant" of COVID.
And yet the Biden Administration has the audacity to issue a vaccine mandate for foreign travelers legally coming to America.
That may well be a perfectly legitimate idea to protect the public health of this country. But so too is securing the southern border! And while Biden is talking about locking down the country again, he's refusing to lock down the border.
It's beyond outrageous, and it's the height of hypocrisy!
There should be a huge march on Washington, D.C., protesting this insanity – especially when congressional liberals are attempting to jam a massive amnesty into a so-called "infrastructure bill." The Congressional Switchboard should be melting down! Capitol Hill Inboxes should be deluged with messages from angry constituents!
The media had the entire country in an uproar over a phone call President Trump made. Pelosi tried to impeach him over it.
Where's the outrage over this ongoing public health scandal and national security threat at our southern border in the middle of a pandemic?!
I am pleased to report that given this willful dereliction of duty and deliberate endangering of public health and safety, Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) is calling for President Joe Biden and Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas to be impeached, something I suggested last week.
Of course, it won't happen so long as Nancy Pelosi controls the House of Representatives.
Biden v. DeSantis
President Biden took a shot at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott during remarks at the White House this week, telling them to "get out of the way" of those "trying to do the right thing." And by "the right thing" Biden means more lockdowns, mask mandates and vaccine passports.
Gov. DeSantis fired back yesterday -- with both barrels -- and he delivered a master class in political communications. He said:
"This is a guy who ran for president saying he was going to, quote, 'shut down the virus.' And what has he done? He's imported more virus from around the world by having a wide-open southern border. . . He's facilitating who knows what new variants are out there . . . coming across that southern border. . .
"We can either have a free society, or we can have a biomedical security state. . . And Joe Biden suggests that if you don't do lockdown policies, then you should get out of the way.
"But, if you're coming after the rights of parents in Florida, I'm standing in your way. If you're trying to deny kids a proper in-person education, I'm going to stand in your way. . . If you're trying to restrict people, impose mandates, if you're trying to ruin their jobs and their livelihoods . . . I am standing in your way!"
"So why don't you do your job? Why don't you get this border secure? And until you do that, I don't want to hear a blip about COVID from you."
Sen. Ted Cruz also responded to Biden's attack on Texas, saying:
"There's a Yiddish word called chutzpah. And I think Joe Biden is embodying that word right now. We just had news breaking today that . . . the Biden administration has released over 7,000 illegal aliens who were COVID positive just in one Texas city, in the city of McAllen. . .
"Joe Biden likes to talk about this pandemic, well I'll tell you what, the election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris was a super spreader event because their open border is endangering not just the people of Texas but people all across the country."
Stop The Fearmongering
Dr. Marty Makary, a professor at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, was on Fox News this morning making the case that the Biden White House needs to tone down the COVID fearmongering.
Referring to Dr. Fauci's warning about a new and more dangerous variant, Makary pointed out that there are over 1,000 known COVID variants. Only a couple, such as the Delta variant, are considered "variants of concern."
Makary said we need to stop the demonization of the unvaccinated and start talking in terms of immune and non-immune. "Those who are unvaccinated pose no risk to the vaccinated beyond that of a common cold," Makary said.
In a separate interview yesterday, Dr. Makary noted new research from Israel that indicates natural immunity from a previous COVID infection may be six times more effective than immunity from the vaccines.
But in an effort to divide us, the Biden Administration, the political left and their media allies have drawn this irrational line in the sand.
Meanwhile, a new poll finds that 60% of Americans think it's inappropriate for public officials to be openly critical of Americans who choose not to be vaccinated. Even a plurality of Democrats, 41%, felt that "vaccine-shaming" was inappropriate. This poll comes amid growing confidence in the vaccines, so it's results are all the more interesting.
Maybe the overbearing mandates and obnoxious rhetoric is another reason why Joe Biden's approval rating is falling fast.
