Summit Sell Out

As you know, the big Biden/Xi summit took place last night. As feared, President Biden didn't even bring up the most pressing issue -- the Chinese coronavirus that has killed 750,000 of us. That should outrage every American!

But here's the "big breakthrough" the White House is promoting from the talks: Biden reportedly got Xi to agree to make it easier for American business leaders to travel to communist China.

What?! Does Biden think it's 1990? We don't want more American businessmen going to communist China and shipping our jobs there! The pandemic proved that we're already too dependent on communist China.

Most of those ships sitting outside the port of Los Angeles are coming from communist China. (By the way, the supply chain crisis has only gotten worse since Biden announced his big "fix".) Since 2001, 60,000 U.S. factories have closed. Many of those good paying jobs went to communist China, a country that uses slave labor.

Did Biden already forget that our doctors couldn't obtain protective gear during the pandemic because virtually all of it is made in communist China? The vast majority of the active ingredients in your medications are made in communist China.

The Wall Street Journal reported that American companies are investing in communist China's semi-conductor industry, further putting America in danger. Police departments are using drones made in communist China. The Pentagon believes the drones spy on us.

And Biden thinks his big success is that communist China is allowing more U.S. businessmen to invest there? Was anyone at last night's summit actually representing the United States?

How much advice did Hunter Biden give his father before the summit? As we know, Hunter is compromised because of his extensive business dealings in communist China.

Their conversation seemed heavy on symbolism and light on substance. Xi called Biden his "old friend." Biden said that the important thing in the talks was ensuring that the "competition between our countries does not veer into conflict."

If only Biden could have expressed the same level of anger toward Xi's reckless policies that he showed toward our Border Patrol agents who tried to prevent illegal aliens from entering the country.

He sat there chatting for more than three hours with the man who unleashed a deadly virus on the world! A man who is crushing freedom in Hong Kong and threatening to invade Taiwan. A man who is threatening our ally Australia, and who is engaged in genocide

Yet, it was just two old buddies talking for hours about nothing that will help America.

Communist China Bipartisanship

President Biden has selected Mitch Landrieu, the former Democrat mayor of New Orleans, to oversee the allocation of $1.2 trillion in the new infrastructure law.  I hope he's a better "infrastructure czar" than Joe Biden was!

According to the Washington Free Beacon, Landrieu is a top adviser to the United States China Heartland Association, a group that "supports cultural and business exchange between communist China and 20 states in the American heartland." The Association often partners with Chinese Communist Party "front groups" that operate around the world.

Meanwhile, Republican appeasers of communist China are busy, too. Neil Bush, the son of President George H. W. Bush, is co-sponsoring an event in Beijing this week. The leaders of the event are executives at the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), a contractor that has been blacklisted by the U.S. government for its links to the Chinese military.

So, Democrat Mitch Landrieu advises a Chinese communist promoting group and Republican bigwig Neil Bush works with a Chinese military-related firm. Who says bipartisanship is dead?

Biden Celebrates

Yesterday, President Biden signed the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill into law on the South Lawn of the White House. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are on the ropes right now, but they got to bask in the glow of a big bipartisan victory, courtesy of 13 House Republicans and 19 Senate Republicans.

Every time conservatives get the left on the ropes, the RINOs end the round early and let the staggering leftists go back to their corner to recover.

I wonder how the Republicans who attended yesterday's bill signing ceremony reacted when Kamala Harris said, "This bill, as significant as it is, as historic as it is, is part one of two. . . Congress must also pass the Build Back Better Act," otherwise known as the $4 trillion reconciliation bill.

Did Rob Portman applaud? Did Lisa Murkowski jump to her feet? They paved the way for Biden's socialist spending obscenity by passing that terrible infrastructure bill.

Donald Trump wanted a big infrastructure bill that really would have been just roads and bridges, not something stuffed with "gender identity" and "equity." But progressives refused to give him that victory. They continually moved the goal posts until the negotiations collapsed. But 32 Republicans just rewarded them for their bad behavior.

The Left's Assault On Normalcy

In Exeter, New Hampshire, a high school football player made a really bold statement. He said there were only two genders. For that "outrage," he was suspended from the next football game. Now he's suing the school for violating his First Amendment rights. This absurd assault on normalcy took place in the "Live Free or Die" state.

This is the left doing what the left always does. What's missing is what normal people ought to be doing. His teammates and hundreds of students at his school should have said, "Of course, there are only two genders. That's science!"

Don't think this insanity is something new. Twenty-one years ago, when I was campaigning in the Republican presidential primaries in New Hampshire, I visited a number of schools.

In one elementary school, I made a brief presentation to first and second graders while their teachers looked on. When I asked the students if they had any questions, one girl raised her hand and asked, "Mr. Bauer, why are you against two men who love each other getting married?" She then looked over at her teacher who was nodding approvingly at the question.

Twenty-one years ago, every child in a New Hampshire elementary school was already being indoctrinated to believe that marriage included two men. So, it's not terribly surprising that we can't even agree on the number of genders today.

I brought up this incident at the school during my campaign, and there should have been a parent-led revolt then. George W. Bush, who was also running in the New Hampshire primary, should have made it an issue, too.

This poisoning of our children's minds has been going on for decades, while far too many of us slept. It won't be turned around by one election in Virginia. The battle for the hearts and minds of our children is a generational struggle that will define the future of freedom in America. The intolerant, totalitarian left must be resisted!

More Retirements

Yesterday two senior Democrats – Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont and Rep. Jackie Speier of California – announced they were retiring and would not seek reelection in 2022. Their seats are not competitive and will likely stay in Democrat hands. But don't overlook the significance of their announcements.

Leahy and Speier see the handwriting on the wall, and neither wants to serve in the minority after the 2022 congressional elections. The latest Rasmussen poll finds that likely voters now favor Republicans by 13 points in the generic congressional ballot.

Leahy is chairman of the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee. As president pro tempore of the Senate, he's also third in the line of presidential succession, behind the vice president and speaker of the House. He doesn't want to be a backbencher again.

Speier, a subcommittee chairman and key ally of Speaker Nancy Pelosi, knows that Pelosi's grip on the speaker's gavel is weakening with each passing day. Better to go out on top, as the saying goes.

In related news, Texas State Representative Ryan Guillen switched parties yesterday. At a press conference announcing that he was joining the GOP, Guillen said:

"Friends, something is happening in South Texas, and many of us are waking up to the fact that the values of those in Washington, D.C., are not our values. . . The ideology of defunding the police, of destroying the oil and gas industry and the chaos at our border is disastrous for those of us who live here in South Texas."
