Jihad In America
FBI agents, military police and local authorities in the Kansas City, Missouri, area are desperately trying to prevent a mass murder. They are searching for Muhammad Abdullah Hassan, who signed up to join the Army in February. Hassan was kicked out last week when authorities discovered his plans to wage a "Fort Hood-inspired jihad" against U.S. soldiers.
You may recall that Major Nidal Hasan murdered 14 people and wounded more than 30 others during a 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood, Texas. Incredibly, the Obama Administration refuses to call the attack what it was -- radical Islamic terrorism -- and labeled the incident "workplace violence."
According to an alert issued to local police departments, on March 20th the FBI learned that Muhammad Abdullah Hassan had "publicly stated his intention to commit jihad, bidding farewell to his friends and making comments indicating his jihad was imminent."
Evidently the FBI didn't get the White House memo on the term "jihad," which some liberals have defended as a "legitimate tenet of Islam."
Back To Benghazi
Tomorrow the House Intelligence Committee will hear testimony from former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morrell about his role in heavily editing the infamous Benghazi talking points used by then-U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice on five Sunday morning talk shows. Rice blamed the murders of the U.S. personnel on spontaneous demonstrations resulting from an anti-Islam video, a false narrative the Obama Administration doggedly stuck to even as all the evidence pointed to a coordinated, planned terrorist attack.
The Washington Times reports today that in a September 15, 2012 email, the "CIA's station chief in Libya pointedly told his superiors in Washington that no such demonstration occurred." Yet in spite of this information, Morrell signed off on the talking points a day later.
Perhaps you are wondering, as Hillary said during her Senate testimony, "What difference at this point does it make?" For starters, several U.S. senators believe Morrell deliberately misled them and may have given false statements to the Senate.
Additionally, Hillary Clinton intends to be the next president, and should she succeed, Michael Morrell could find his way back into the top echelons of power. He left the CIA in 2013 and currently works for a consulting firm founded by Philippe Reines, whom the New York Times describes as "[Hillary] Clinton's principal gatekeeper."
Obamacare Not Meeting Goals
The Obamacare website crashed again yesterday, supposedly under the strain of last-minute enrollees trying to meet yesterday's enrollment deadline. Since that deadline, like so many others, was waived, administration officials feel confident they will meet their goal of seven million enrollees.
Don't forget that covering the uninsured is the primary goal of Obamacare. Liberals justified this massive government takeover of the health care and insurance industries because it was immoral that tens of millions of Americans lacked health insurance. So on their own stated yardstick, Obamacare is failing.
While the administration's enrollment figures are suspect, industry reports indicate that the vast majority of those who signed up for Obamacare were previously insured. No doubt many of them had their health insurance policies cancelled by Obamacare and were forced into the exchanges in what one columnist has labeled "a giant churn operation."
But even accepting the administration's figures for the sake of argument, one analysis finds that only about two percent of the total uninsured population has enrolled in Obamacare. Two percent. That's not much to brag about.
A Tale Of Two Nations
In Pakistan last week another Christian was sentenced to death for the crime of blasphemy. In many Islamic countries that can mean just about anything, and in last week's case the charge was reportedly based on hearsay.
Every day I thank God that I was born in America, where free speech and religious liberty are protected. Oh, wait a minute… Did you hear about the persecution of Robin B. Frazier?
Mrs. Frazier is a county commissioner in Maryland. Last week she offered a prayer that mentioned Jesus Christ. Now she is in big trouble. Why? Frazier violated a federal judge's order prohibiting prayers at Carroll County board meetings that reference deities of any specific faith.
Frazier refused to bend to the dictates of Big Government. She said the ruling was a violation of her First Amendment rights and that she was willing to go to jail if necessary.
Mrs. Frazier probably won't go to jail. But attorneys with the American Humanist Association are threatening her with a contempt of court citation, which can bring heavy fines and jail time. They most likely will bankrupt Mrs. Frazier and her family for the "crime" of mentioning the name of Christ.
In recent years, the American church has been divided over whether to speak up on the sanctity of life. Sadly, some mainline denominations have even embraced the destruction of innocent children. Churches have literally split in two over same-sex marriages, in spite of Jesus' clear words about marriage and the performance of his first miracle -- turning water into wine at a wedding ceremony.
God help us if the church is split over whether they should enter the battle, just now gaining in intensity, over the fundamental freedom of religion.
