Our "Prankster" President

As we noted yesterday, the Obama Administration responded to the Crimean secession vote by imposing sanctions, which the White House was spinning as the toughest sanctions against Russia since the Cold War. That's not exactly how the Russians see it.

The sanctions are virtually meaningless and have no economic impact whatsoever. In fact, Russia's stock market went up after they were announced. That's because they targeted only a few individuals, rather than banks or businesses. Even the liberal Washington Post labeled them a "slap on the wrist."

Predictably, this weak response did nothing to deter Vladimir Putin. Today Putin delivered a bellicose address to a joint session of the Russian parliament and signed the treaty annexing Crimea while the Russian national anthem blared in the background. Putin is also expected to retaliate with his own list of sanctions against Obama Administration officials and members of Congress.

Columnist Charles Krauthammer described Obama's response as "humiliating," and said that the Russians were ridiculing him for all the world to see. It appears Krauthammer is correct.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin was one of the targeted Russians whose foreign assets can now supposedly be frozen. Yesterday, Rogozin laughed at Obama, tweeting, "Comrade Obama, what should those who have neither accounts nor property abroad do? Have you not thought about it?" Rogozin added that Obama's sanctions list must have been written "by some prankster."

Reading these comments on his radio show today, Rush Limbaugh said it was the "gangster versus the prankster. The KGB colonel versus the community organizer," sarcastically adding, "I wonder how that's going to turn out."

By the way, Vice President Joe Biden has been dispatched to Poland to try to reassure our nervous European allies. One administration official said that energy security and "long-term diversification of the energy supply," which will allow European nations to depend less on Russia, will be a key item on Biden's agenda.

Perhaps our Polish allies will prod the administration to finally approve the Keystone XL pipeline so America can be more energy independent too.

About That Reset…

One liberal group is promoting Hillary Clinton's future aspirations with the slogan "Ready for Hillary." But is Hillary ready to be president? Beyond Benghazi, Hillary Clinton was the architect of Obama's "reset with Russia."

Remember that reset button? Instead of "reset," the button read "Overcharged." When Russia's foreign minister pointed out the error, Hillary laughed it off, saying, "We won't let you do that to us, I promise."

But this is no laughing matter. The Washington Post notes today that under the Obama/Clinton reset, "Relations between Moscow and the West are now arguably at their lowest point since the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979."

Fight For Faith

The radical left's assault against religious liberty in America is a disturbing trend that must be confronted. Whether it's public prayers or Obamacare's mandates, the left is increasingly intolerant toward people of faith. Sadly, the military has been a prime target for the tyrants of tolerance.

In recent days, news broke that a cadet at the Air Force Academy was forced to remove a scripture verse from a whiteboard outside his dorm room. Even though the boards are for official and personal use, quoting the Bible was deemed inappropriate.

According to Mikey Weinstein of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, the scripture quote "elevated one religious faith over all others at an already virulently hyper-fundamentalist Christian institution. It massively poured fundamentalist Christian gasoline on an already raging out-of-control conflagration of fundamentalist Christian tyranny, exceptionalism and supremacy at the [United States Air Force Academy]."

I am pleased to report that the heavy-handed suppression of First Amendment rights spawned a mini rebellion at the Academy. In response, at least a dozen other cadets posted scripture verses on their whiteboards. Now Weinstein is threatening to sue the Air Force Academy unless this outbreak of free speech and religious expression is crushed.

The free exercise of faith was so important to our Founding Fathers that it was included in the First Amendment to the Constitution. I am proud to be part of a coalition that is defending the religious liberty of the courageous men and women who defend our liberty. And right now, the cadets at our Air Force Academy need your support!

TAKE ACTION: Click here to sign our petition to Lt. Gen. Michelle Johnson, Superintendent of the Air Force Academy, urging her to defend the religious liberty of Academy cadets. Please be certain to share our petition with like-minded friends and family members.

Science Confirms The Bible

So much of academia and the media relish every opportunity to pit science against faith. For example, there is a story on the front page of today's Washington Post purporting to support the Big Bang theory. Here's an excerpt:

"In the beginning, the universe got very big very fast, transforming itself in a fraction of an instant from something almost infinitesimally small to something imponderably vast… This is the premise of an idea called cosmic inflation -- a powerful twist on the big-bang theory -- and Monday it received a major boost from an experiment at the South Pole… A team of astronomers … announced that it had detected ripples from gravitational waves created in a violent inflationary event at the dawn of time."

Genesis makes it clear that the universe was indeed created in an instant: "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. …And God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light."

But scientists who may have never opened the Bible are pleased to announce that they believe they have evidence that creation happened in an instant.
