YOU DID IT!
Thank you, my friends! Donations poured in yesterday and we met our spring goal. Thanks to your support, we are back on track. If we can continue this pace throughout the rest of the year, I am confident we will be able to make a significant impact for our values. As always, I am humbled by your generosity and faith in our work. Thank you for continuing to stand with me in the good fight for family, faith and freedom!

Veterans Demand Resignations

In yesterday's report we told you about the growing scandal at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Whistleblowers are coming forward with shocking details of delayed medical care, document destruction and unnecessary deaths. The problems have existed for years and there appears to be no resolution in sight.

In an extraordinarily rare move yesterday, Daniel Dellinger, national commander of the American Legion, demanded the resignations of three top Department of Veterans Affairs officials, including Secretary Eric Shinseki. Here are excerpts of his statement:

"It has been more than 30 years since The American Legion has called for the resignation of a public official. It's not something we do lightly. …

"The existing leadership has exhibited a pattern of bureaucratic incompetence and failed leadership that has been amplified in recent weeks. …There needs to be a change, and that change needs to occur at the top."

Citing "chronic mismanagement and systemic failures of the VA under his leadership," Rep. Mike Coffman (R-CO), chairman of the House Veterans Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, also demanded Shinseki's resignation yesterday. A White House spokesman said last night that President Obama "remains confident in Secretary Shinseki's ability to lead the Department."

First Health Care, Now The Weather

Having seized control of the nation's healthcare industries, the left is now aiming for the rest of economy under the guise of fighting climate change. Today the government unveiled its "National Climate Assessment." The report is an action plan to combat global warming.

The "National Climate Assessment" warns of impending doom unless big government steps in to save us from ourselves. According to the White House, "The findings … underscore the need for urgent action to combat the threats from climate change, protect American citizens and communities today…"

We are getting this dire call to arms just as we have experienced below average hurricane seasons for the past three years and late starts to the tornado seasons. We've just had the coldest winter on record. In most of the country, folks would have paid good money for a little "global warming."

Government bureaucrats couldn't make the Obamacare website work. But we're supposed to believe they can control the weather?

Several years ago, Professor Walter Williams published a great column about the wild predictions of environmentalists. Consider these excerpts:

"In 1968, Professor Paul Ehrlich … predicted there would be a major food shortage in the U.S. and 'in the 1970s ... hundreds of millions of people are going to starve to death.' … Ehrlich's predictions about England were gloomier: 'If I were a gambler, I would take even money that England will not exist in the year 2000.'

"Here are my questions: In 1970, when environmentalists were making predictions of manmade global cooling and the threat of an ice age and millions of Americans starving to death, what kind of government policy should we have undertaken to prevent such a calamity? When Ehrlich predicted that England would not exist in the year 2000, what steps should the British Parliament have taken in 1970 to prevent such a dire outcome?"

The left's environmental alarmism borders on the "big lie." The extremists have been so wrong, for so long, yet they keep coming back to it. But one thing hasn't changed -- their solution is always the same: bigger government, higher taxes and less freedom. The environmentalist movement is riddled with socialists and some proudly admit it.

Bible Banned In Broward County

We reported yesterday about the narrow victory at the Supreme Court upholding Christian prayers at government meetings. But no one should doubt that there is an ongoing assault against the free exercise of religion. All too often the victims of this secular assault are our children.

The latest example comes from Broward County, Florida, where a fifth-grade student was told he could not read the Bible during a period of time in which the students were supposedly free to read whatever they wanted.

Every few weeks we hear about a situation where a student has been told that they can't pray, can't read the Bible or can't share their faith. Men died so that our children could enjoy these rights!

But in the left-wing educational establishment, there is tremendous hostility to faith. Evidently a significant number of teachers still believe that anything to do with religion is banned once a child enters the schoolhouse door.

When I was in the Reagan Administration, we informed all 16,000 school districts that children have the right to express religious ideas. And so too did the Bush Administration in 2003.

The culture war is real, my friends.

Welcome To "Modern Military"

As you know, liberal politicians recently forced through an end to the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy. Now open homosexuality is allowed in the Armed Forces. On a separate issue, there has been a lot of concern in recent years about women in the military being victims of sexual assaults.

Apparently there is a new twist on the sexual assault issue. In reviewing the data, the Pentagon discovered that a significant percentage of sexual assault victims are . . . men.

We shouldn't jump to any conclusions, but it doesn't seem likely that women in the military are preying on our warrior men. That only leaves one possibility -- that men are making unwanted sexual advances on other men. Welcome to the "modern military."
