Radical Islam's War On Christian Women
Meriam Yahya Ibrahim, a married 27 year-old woman, was recently sentenced to 100 lashes for adultery by a Sudanese court. How can a married woman be guilty of adultery? Sudan, which is governed by radical Islamic or Sharia law, refuses to recognize Meriam's marriage to her Christian husband, Daniel Wani, an American citizen. Under Sharia law, a Muslim woman cannot marry a Christian, and Meriam is considered to be a Muslim because her father was.
And because her husband is a Christian, the judge refused to recognize Daniel's parental rights and threw her 20 month-old son, Martin, in jail with her. By the way, Meriam is eight-months pregnant. Oh, and she's also been sentenced to death because she refuses to convert to Islam. The court has delayed the death sentence until she gives birth, which could be any day.
That, friends, is a real war on women. Meanwhile, the U.S. Embassy is demanding a DNA test before it will help Wani gain access to his imprisoned son.
It is also a war on Christians. Remember the kidnapped girls in Nigeria? They were from Christian families. As a result, radical Islamists abducted them, forcibly converted some of them to Islam and are now threatening to sell others as sex slaves.
I hope you hear more about Meriam's plight in the days ahead. Members of Congress, including Senators Roy Blunt (MO) and Kelly Ayotte (NH), and Representatives Trent Franks (AZ) and Frank Wolf (VA), are demanding action. America's pastors need to speak up too.
Obama Addresses VA Scandal
This morning news broke that the number of VA hospitals under investigation for falsified records and delayed care has "more than doubled in recent days." The Associated Press reports that 26 VA facilities are being investigated nationwide.
Amid growing outrage, President Obama finally stepped forward today and addressed the scandal. Obama said, "If the allegations prove to be true, I will not tolerate it. Period."
What does he mean by "If"? The VA already admits that at least 23 veterans died as a result of delayed care.
While acknowledging that problems at the VA have existed for years, Obama said today that he has boosted VA funding "to record levels." But throwing more money at the problem led to more corruption. And that's the real problem, folks, corruption.
Corruption at the IRS. An overly-politicized Justice Department. Stonewalling on Fast and Furious. A blockade on information about Benghazi. Repeated Obamacare fiascos -- from failed websites to people paid to do nothing.
No one ever gets held accountable, so it is no surprise that things at the VA only got worse.
Kudos To Pat Sajak
The left is going after my friend Pat Sajak. Monday evening he dared to question the prevailing liberal orthodoxy when he tweeted, "I now believe global warming alarmists are unpatriotic racists knowingly misleading for their own ends. Good night."
It's rare that anyone in Hollywood is willing to take a conservative stand and make it so forcefully. I admire Sajak's courage. Besides, he's right.
The Obama Administration, because of its global warming alarmism, is restricting energy investment in Africa, which many poor nations desperately need to feed, house and clothe their people.
Sure, the White House has a "Power Africa" initiative. But it is pushing "green energy alternatives," and we know how well those stimulus-funded boondoggles turned out here. Meanwhile, it is largely ignoring the massive reserves of coal, oil and natural gas that can found on the continent and refuses to promote or aid in its development.
Join me in retweeting Pat's Tweet to raise awareness about the hypocrisy of the left on the issue of climate change.
Howard Dean Wants To Kick You Out
During a recent speech in Colorado, former Vermont Governor and presidential hopeful Howard Dean revealed some bizarre views about voter ID laws and the people who support them.
Dean called the Tea Party "a dangerous group of people who want to take away our fundamental democracy." But Dean was just getting warmed up. Here's what he said about conservatives who support voter ID laws:
"The price of living in a democracy is to do something political every single day. …And if you don't, then you get people who are willing to take away your right to vote by these voter ID laws… they think it's okay to win by taking away the right to vote. They are not American. They could be more comfortable in the Ukraine or Russia. But stay away from our country…"
Was Dean smoking something before he gave that speech in Colorado? No. He was merely reflecting the growing effort by the left to demonize, marginalize and ostracize the half of the country that is conservative.
By the way, 70% of Americans, including 55% of Democrats and even 51% of blacks, support voter ID laws.
