Putin On The Prowl

Over these last few weeks, while Russia was violating international law, the leader of the free world did everything he could not to be "provocative." Obama responded to the invasion of a sovereign country with which we have treaty obligations by slapping sanctions on a list of Russian citizens. Obama's response amounted to: "You invade Crimea and we are going to make it impossible for Ivan Pavlov to come to Disney World!" I doubt Putin was impressed.

Obama Shows His Cards, Turns His Back

Everybody knows that in poker, you don't reveal your hand. A good foreign policy utilizes the same strategy.

When confronting aggression by a hostile power, one of the first principles of foreign policy is never to take options off the table. We hear it all the time whenever Iran's nuclear program is in the news: "All options are on the table."

Good Morning, Liberals!

Just kidding, really. If you were a liberal getting up this morning, ready to fight the battle against mean, nasty conservatives, the latest Obamacare headlines would probably have you reaching for the Maalox. For example:

Our "Prankster" President

As we noted yesterday, the Obama Administration responded to the Crimean secession vote by imposing sanctions, which the White House was spinning as the toughest sanctions against Russia since the Cold War. That's not exactly how the Russians see it.

Fighting For Our Values

My remarks at last week's Susan B. Anthony List gala are getting attention from the Washington Post and National Review. Here's the context of my remarks.

About That Global Warming...

Earlier this week, Senate liberals wasted a lot of hot air talking for hours and hours about global warming, just in time for much of the country, including Washington, D.C., to get hit with another winter blast. Snow showers are forecast for Monday.

But where does the issue, so important to the left, rank with the American people? According to Gallup's latest ranking issues, climate change is almost dead last, coming in 14th out of 15 issues tested.

Fighting For Life

Last night I was honored to attend Susan B. Anthony List's annual gala. I had the privilege of delivering some brief remarks about the importance of the sanctity of life and introducing the evening's keynote speaker, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee. Governor Huckabee delivered an impassioned speech on the importance of restoring the right to life in America.

A Jolly Victory

Last night Republican David Jolly won an upset victory in a special election for Florida's 13th Congressional District.

The 13th District is a swing seat, and Democrats had several advantages in this race. Barack Obama carried the district twice. The Democratic nominee, Alex Sink, had 100% name identification. A former statewide officeholder, Sink was the Democratic nominee for governor in 2010. In that race, Sink carried the 13th District.

Senate Liberals Talk About The Weather

Last night Senate liberals launched an unusual filibuster. It wasn't technically a filibuster because they were not trying to block a bill. They wanted to talk about the weather. They really wanted to talk about the weather. They talked all night long and well into the morning -- for 30 hours!

They took this unusual action to highlight what they claim is the growing danger from climate change. But the move has left many in the liberal media scratching their heads.

Unions vs. Obamacare

Conservatives have warned for years that Obamacare would be expensive, lead to lost hours and pay for workers and generally fail to live up to its promises. Such concerns were dismissed by liberals who glibly insisted that we had to pass the bill to find out what's in it.

Since 2010, the critics have largely been proven right. Now even some groups on the left are admitting it.
